Calvary Christian took on Westminster Christian for the 4A Regional Semi-Final matchup at Calvary. The matchup featured a pair of arms bound for Division 1 schools. On the mound for Westminster was RHP Kevin Martin, who is committed to Florida. On the mound for Calvary was RHP Skylar Gonzalez, who is committed to West Virginia.

As one may expect, the early going was a pitchers duel between the two talented right-handers. Neither would allow a run through two innings and would combine to strike out five.

Martin, a strong stocky right-hander, sat mostly 88-90 touching 91 mph with a heavy fastball. He showed and above average curveball at 75-77 mph. Gonzalez sat mostly 85 mph with the fastball. He showed a feel for a 72-75 mph slider and a 69 mph curveball. He threw mostly fastball/slider, and located both well.

Calvary would score first thanks to a leadoff double from talented sophomore Ty Hollingsworth and would later score on an error. The Eagles would extend their lead in the fourth with a leadoff, opposite field, home run from Ty Knierm which carried out with the wind off of the scoreboard.

Westminster would answer back in the top of the fifth though. After a hit batsmen and a pair of walks, Martin would step to the plate and deliver a two-run single to tie the game. The Eagles would have an answer in the bottom half though, with a leadoff walk, a base hit from Ryan Keenan and an error would give the Eagles a 4-2 lead.

Polk recruit Chase Cone would come in to relieve Gonzalez in the 6th. Cone, a long, lean and projectable right-hander would proceed to strike out the side in the sixth and strike out two of the three hitters in the seventh, setting down six in a row to seal the win for Calvary. They move on to face Florida Christian on Friday at Florida Christian.
