Jesuit vs. Sunlake
Behind Michael Sandborn’s 2 hit, shutout pitching performance, Jesuit (Tampa) (26-6) returns to the 5A state championship game a 3rd time in 5 years. Sandborn, a sophomore LHP, struck out 8 Sunlake hitters keeping them off balance with a very effective breaking ball. Jesuit’s Nick Ortega drove in the games only earned run in the top of the seventh with an RBI double. Sunlake (20-10) rode the left arm of David Castillo through the entire playoffs. Castillo went the distance giving up 5 hits and only 1 earned run. Jesuit moves on to face Clay High School for the 5A state championship game today, May 22nd at 4:00 PM at Jet Blue Park.
