2021 Sophomore State Games: South Region Analysis

The 2021 Sophomore State Games took place Saturday, October 30th and Sunday, October 31st at Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona, FL. The event featured players from the 2024 class representing their region of North, South, East, or West Florida participating in a pro-style workout followed by 3 total games per region in front of the PBR Florida Scouting Staff.

South Region Analysis
Joshua Agriesti C / 1B / Western, FL / 20245-foot-8, 195-pound solid build. Solid during batting practice, the right-handed hitter displayed an exit velocity of 102 mph, Highest at the event. Bat speed is quick, shows a short upward swing plane and high finish. Was able to create some loud contact and found multiple barrels. Line drive approach. While catching, his best throw downs of the day reached a max velocity of 70 mph; had soft consistent hands, average footwork, and a lengthy transfer. recorded pop times of 2.20-2.38. Frank Avila 2B / SS / Riviera Prep, FL / 20245-foot-7, 135-pound lean athletic build. Athletic during batting practice, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 83 mph. (62.33 mph bat speed average). (18.07 mph hand speed average). Begins in a balanced stance with a slow controlled load, then uses a short stride. Bat speed was efficient, had a short swing plane and high finish. Found some barrels with some loud contact. Line drive approach. Solid in the infield, displayed a velocity of 78 mph; had a clean natural exchange, smooth athletic footwork, and soft consistent hands. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Reese Burton OF / RHP / Stoneman Douglas, FL / 20245-foot-11, 190-pound strong athletic frame. Solid in the box, Burton had an exit velocity of 92 mph. (63.97 mph bat speed average).
