13U - Florida 7 Oklahoma 4
The 13 year old boys from Florida jumped on Oklahoma early on Friday night. Kasey Mink opened up the scoring with a 2-run triple to left center, scoring Erick Robles and Mateu Dalmau. Charlie Stumberger brought him home with a liner back up the middle to push the lead to 3-0 after 2. Presley Moseley opened up the 3rd with a triple to deep left center and scored on an RBI groundout from MJ Hough to make it 4-0. Oklahoma put up a 3 spot in the bottom half but the Florida squad answered right back with a 3 spot of their own aided by an Ethan Barclay RBI double.
Moseley started on the mound for Florida and relied on a FB/SL mix with plenty of confidence in the off speed. He went 3 innings and didn’t give up his first hit until the 3rd where he ran into some bad luck. Final line: 3 IP 3 H 3 R 4 BB 6 K.
Vaughn Howard relieved Moseley and struggled with command a bit but showed the ability to miss barrels and worked out of trouble limiting Oklahoma to 1 run and 1 hit over his 2 frames. Kasey Mink closed things out with a scoreless inning to give Florida the victory.
Florida 13U will play Connecticut at 7:15.
