December 10, 2019
Preseason All-State has quickly become the top Preseason event in the state of Florida. Last year’s event consisted of over 50 committed players and 2 players who were selected in the 2019 MLB Draft. This event is held for the top 2020s-2023s throughout the state to kick off the Prep Baseball Report's spring high school baseball coverage.
We will begin to spotlight many of the top players who will be in attendance at this year’s Preseason All-State. Today, we start with SS Richie Morales (Lakewood Ranch, 2020). The Florida State commit is ranked 31st in our Florida Class of 2020 rankings and 154th in our National Class of 2020 rankings.

Scouting Report
Florida State commit, Super athletic in the infield and has a great first step. Gets a little long with his arm action, but has great carry and accuracy on his throws. Is very smooth and fluid with his hands and fields everything out front with a great exchange, while playing through the ball. Has bat speed and hits a lot of line drives. Likes to use a leg kick to get his lower half into his swing, whiling staying balanced with his approach. Stays level through the zone with his swing and has good rhythm at the plate.
Tulane commit, Morales was one of the biggest standouts of the weekend. If the Scorpions won the Championship, would've been the likely MVP. He consistently stayed on the barrel with above average bat speed and a compact, level swing. Although impressive offensive, he really shined defensively. He shows an above average feel for the position combined with functional athleticism and above average hands. He showed the ability to make every play needed to be a plus defender at the next level. Overall, he was extremely impressive and on the rise.
