2018 Florida Unsigned Senior Games Position Breakdown: Corner Infielders

Doug Freeman
Florida Scouting Director

Lakeland, FL- On September 8th, the 2018 Florida Unsigned Senior Games took place at Henley Field which featured some of the top uncommitted 2019s in the state. Players participated in a pro-style workout followed by a game.

Over the next week, we will breakdown each player by position through report. Today, we take a look at all the corner infielders in attendance:

Drew Pflieger 1B / OF / Bishop Verot, FL / 2019

Stands at 6-foot, 180 pounds,  he is a solid defender and works well around the bag. Offensively, he starts with a low hand set and is aggressive to the pull side. There is some length at times, but present strength and had an exit velocity of 89 mph. There is strength and overall pull side power potential.

Ben Pues 1B / Strawberry Crest, FL / 2019

The big, strong 6-foot-4, 215 pound first baseman picked the ball extremely well. Could improve footwork, but hands work. Offensively, he stands upright and has a lot of moving parts in his load which threw off timing at times. The strength throughout the frame generates some bat speed and translated to an 87 mph exit velocity. There is some length, but did barrel a single in gameplay.

Will Kistler C / 1B / River Ridge, FL / 2019

The 6-foot-2, 235 first baseman has a big, strong frame with strength throughout. Defensively, he moves fairly well and has athleticism for size. Offensively, he has a short stride and really uses a lot of the upper body strength. Could access more strength from the lower half, but still manages to generate present bat speed and strength with an exit velocity of 87 mph. Overall, there is present strength that can continue to be accessed with more potential power.

Chase Walls 3B / OF / Sunlake, FL / 2019

At 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, he has a stocky, strong frame. At first, the hands work and shows sound footwork and throws topped out at 78 mph. Offensively,  there is some length and steepness in the path at times. Although, when he sinks into the lower half and works through the ball to extension he creates some leverage and gap-to-gap power and an exit velocity of 88 mph.
