Florida Summer Championships

The PBRT 16U Florida Summer Championships continued Saturday, July 9th at IMG Academy with action from the 16U division. The event is four days long with champions decided on Sunday. Each day we will highlight standouts with a daily scout blog. Take a look at Day 3's notes.

Everett Burgess 1B / 3B / Cypress Creek, FL / 2025

Tall frame with athleticism. Compact swing with quick hands. Light load with 2 strikes, foot down early.

Ethan Burkhardt 3B / RHP / A3 Academy, FL / 2024

Rankings StateRank: 81 / POS: 9

Stocky athletic frame. Simple gap to gap approach with natural lift. Strength in the lower half. On time and on barrel as he laced a 2RBI 2B.

Drew Cobb C / Wharton, FL / 2025

Sturdy frame. Shorter quick arm action. Showed some feel for 3 pitch mix. FB has some jump to it. Tight spinning BB with some swing & miss. CH with late fade

Anthony DeVito SS / 2B / Newsome, FL / 2025

Devito continues to find barrel this weekend. Athletic frame that continues to develop. Calm presence in box, quick hands with level path. Present bat speed, easy swing.

Large physical frame. Crowds plate, efficient mover. Compact swing, works pull side.

Mekai Griffin RHP / OF / Trinity Catholic, FL / 2024

Miami recruit. 6-foot-2, 190 pounds. Athletic, worked up tempo attacking hitters with FB. Effective arm side, above average breaker at times. 3 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K’s.

Marc Hersh C / 3B / A3 Academy, FL / 2024

Athletic build. Present strength and presence in the box. Easy smooth operation. Uphill path with good hands. 2B off the LCF wall and followed it up with a single. Impressive day. One to follow.

Riley McDonald RHP / 3B / Hollins, FL / 2025

McDonald had one of the most impressive weekends of anyone. Hit a no doubt game tying HR which followed up a double off the wall that almost left the yard.

Braden Moon 1B / 1B / Newsome, FL / 2024

Large, mature physical frame at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds. Calm presence in box, efficient mover. Clean actions with controlled aggression. Short, compact swing.

Nicholas Partida SS / RHP / Pearland, TX / 2025

Athletic mover. Slower tempo delivery with good extension. Clean arm action. FB has late life. CB is the go to. Lots of buckled knees. Some late cut to CH

Interesting ‘25 follow. Mature athletic frame. More comfortable out of the wind-up. Loose clean arm action. FB with late life. Advanced feel for SL, late tight action.
