The 13U Florida squad wrapped up play in the 2019 Junior Future Games on Saturday with a 5-4 loss to Team New Jersey. Team Florida, who barely missed out on a top 8 seed and a chance to play in the championship bracket on Sunday, drew New Jersey in the first game of the consolation bracket.

Florida jumped on the Jersey pitching early with 2 runs in their first at bat started off by an RBI groundout from Connor Vance, scoring his brother Bryce. After a 3-run third inning for Team New Jersey, the Florida squad would tie it up on a 2 out base hit to left off the bat of McCall Biemiller to score Julian Hernandez. Jersey would add another run in the 5th and again, Team Florida would answer back. In keeping with the theme of the game, Bryce Vance led off the inning with a single, stole 2nd and 3rd, and then his twin knocked him in with a rope to center. In the 6th, an inside-the-park home run put Team New Jersey ahead for good as Team Florida couldn’t push the tying run home in the bottom half. 

On the mound for Team Florida, Jason Coss pitched 2 innings, giving up no runs on 1 hit and 2 strikeouts. Gavin Howard pitched 2 innings with 4 hits and 3 runs given up, and JaMarques Benton went the final 2 frames, as he punched out 6 batters and gave up just the homer.
