After a busy fall, the 2018 class rankings mark the final rankings update for 2015. PBR Maryland hosted five events over the course of the fall and saw numerous prospects across the state. The month of October was the Fall Review, covering the North, South, East, and West of Maryland. November 1 marked the final PBR Maryland event for 2015 with the Fall Underclass Invitational that put together the 40 of the top uncommitted prospects in the PBR Maryland area of coverage.
It is important to note the that players qualify for their respective state rankings based on the state their high school is located. Currently at 50, the 2018 class is poised to have the most additions of any of the class rankings in 2016.
This update of the 2018 rankings has added 20 new players making the running total now at 50. There is no change at the top with RHP/OF Austin Elliott maintaining his No. 1 ranking. Recent Virginia Tech commit RHP Stephen Pelli jumped up two spots and is now No. 2 in our rankings.
JP Murphy saw himself jump into the Top five after another impressive performance at the Fall Underclass Invitational. Murphy showed a solid increase in strength and lowered his 60-yard dash into the sub-7.0 range. A stellar batting practice and defensive portion of the workout solidified his spot in the rankings.
Joey Silan of Caravel Academy made his first appearance in the rankings at the No. 7 spot. The two-way outfielder had two solid showings both at the Fall Review and Fall Underclass Invitational, showing a gap-to-gap hitting ability with potential pull side pop and pitched at 84 mph with a four pitch arsenal.
Other newcomers to the Top 20 of the rankings include Michael Marralle of Century HS, Sammy Senders of The Bullis School, and Tripp Sullivan of Georgetown Prep. More details on these new talents will be included later when we breakdown the Top Newcomers to the 2018 rankings. Here is a sneak peak at the top ten.
