On Deck Preview: Team NY Catchers
July 22, 2019
Team New York will be making their way down to Lakepoint Sports in Emerson, GA for the Prep Baseball Report Future Games on July 31-August 4. We kickoff our previews with a solid core of backstops that will represent the Empire State.
Catchers
Adonys Guzman C / 3B / Brunswick School, CT / 2022Guzman played this past season at Salesian High School in the Bronx as a 2021 Grad, after attending the NYS Games at the end of June he enrolled at the Brunswick School in Connecticut and reclassified as a 2022. At the plate the bat projects. Easy power with some barrel lift through the zone. Defensively he's advanced, especially on his catch-and-throw abilities. Guzman is still young and developing but he's already turning heads behind the dish.

Robert Fratangelo C / 3B / Shaker, NY / 2021The Albany area native has performed well at four PBR NY events in the past. Stands 5-foot-9, 175-pounds and runs well for his position (7.26). At the plate he's got a simple approach with a slight incline to his barrel path, line-drive contact using all fields. Shows polish behind the plate defensively, receives soft, quick and clean on his transfers, over the top throwing motion with above average velocity (80 mph) and accuracy. Fun hard nosed player to watch.
|
Alvin Paulino C / OF / Lehman , NY / 2021We have now had Paulino at two events where he has stood-out at both. Well built body frame standing 5-foot-10, 200-pounds with room for physical gains. Relaxed approach in the box with signs of bat-speed and strength, especially to his pull-side. Defensively he's low effort with high-end results. Quick and clean on the transfers, throws are accurate, pop-time at the 2019 NYS Games was 1.90. Both his bat and defensive skills project at the next-level.
|
Jaden DeLawder C / OF / FDR, NY / 2021No stranger to PBR, Delawder stands from a premium build at 6-foot-0, 180-pounds. Advanced athletically, especially for his position (6.86 60-yard dash), footwork is active and skilled, hands are soft and quick, arm shows strength and accuracy to the bag (75 mph). In the box, he hits from the left-side. Balanced approach, short and compact to the ball, fast powerful hands (91 mph), really stays on the ball a long time, barrel has natural lift through contact. Interesting prospect to keep eyes on as he continues to develop.
