2021 Future Games: Team Connecticut - Top Performers

The tenth annual Future Games took place on July 28-31 at LakePoint in Emerson, Georgia. Top uncommitted prospects in the classes of 2023 and 2024 participated in one of the most popular events each year.

There were 32 teams, including Team Connecticut, with players representing 38 states plus Canadian prospects. 

More than 330 scouts from across the country were looking on as approximately 500 players participated in this year’s event.

2021 Future Games: Team Connecticut - Top Performers

Overall MVP

Javar Williams OF / Tabor Academy, MA / 2023

Report: A left-handed hitter, a plus runner, ran a 6.44, can move. Line drive approach to the gaps, ton more in his game. Game 1- 1-3, with a stolen base, super quick out of the box, big time athlete. Game 2, had a big triple to right-center gap, clocked at 12.01 from home to 3rd. Changes the game multiple way. Game 3- put together solid at bats, was on base all day, collected a couple stolen bases. Potentially draft pick in a 2 years.

Best Pitching Performance

Jayden Longdin RHP / 3B / Lewis S. Mills, CT / 2023

Report: A right-handed pitcher, topped at 83 mph, works from a higher slot, pitched downhill, short on the backside, hides the baseball extremely well, fastball touched 83 mph. Mixed in slurvey breaker at 73 mph. Punched out 5 of 6 hitters, created soft and weak swings and contact.

Performance

Brett Davino SS / 2B / Nonnewaug, CT / 2023

Report: A left-handed hitter, smooth swing, gap to gap approach, an above average runner at 6.89. The hands are soft defensively, turns it with ease from both sides of the bag. Game 1-Produced a pullside double to right, lined out to third in first, going opposite on a tough curve ball. Game 2- Collected another extra base hit, hung on a ciurveball, drove it deep to center. Game 3, continued to play at a very high level, solid at bats and looks to be able to play all three infield positons.

Best Workout Day Hitting Performance

Jack LaRose SS / RHP / Bishop Hendricken, RI / 2024

Report: A left-handed hitter, all fields approach, plus pop in the hands, swing is advanced. Showed enough arm from the left-side at 84 mph. Advanced approach at the plate, hard contact with a walk, stole second. Made all the plays in the field, with solid arm. Game 3, collected a clean single up the middle, also worked a walk, with a stolen base.

Best In Game Defender

Justin Higgins SS / RHP / St. Luke's, CT / 2023

Report: A right-handed hitter, had one of the better workouts, ran a 6.82 sixty-yard dash. Flashed the leather up the middle, arm at 81 mph. Took one of the better rounds of BP, stayed in the middle of the field, hard solid contact. Game 1, base hit to right-field, hung on a tough curve ball. Showed smooth actions. Games 2-3, continued to flash the leather, making it look easy.

Best Workout Day Defender

Pierce Cowles SS / 2B / Fairfield Prep, CT / 2023

Report: A right-handed hitter, gap to gap hitter, level to up path, could shorten at times. A very good defender, handles the pivot form both sides, arm is a tick above average at 81 mph. Game 1-Two solid at bats, base hit up the middle, played solid defense on both sides of the bag. Game 2- Played hard and fast, above average at bats. Game 3- Swung the bat very well, line drive attack, played a solid defense good turns and starts, projects more as a second baseman.

Best Base Runner
