Future Games Prospect Analysis: Aaron Soucy

Aaron SoucyName: Aaron Soucy
Position: C
Class: 2017
Height/Weight: 5-foot-11, 190 pounds
High School: Pomfret (CT)
Summer Team(s): NEB

Evaluation: Right-handed hitting catcher who is advanced as a catcher for his age. Playing with a bit of shoulder tendinitis limiting the amount he could throw. Pop time of 2.04 and threw 75 from back behind the dish. Can really receive as I like how soft his hands are. Athleticism is good back there and he has a feel for calling pitches. Ran a 7.8 which needs to improve. The bat has life to it, 87 tee exit velocity. The barrel is handled well and he has a pull approach. The setup is simple and he see the ball well in game. Would like to see some more strength in his body but he has time to develop there.

In-Game Performance: Had a solid weekend, very fatigued from a long summer. Showed well in batting practice, as the swing and hands have life to them. Had three hits in the games and did a nice job receiving and handling the pitchers. Needs to slow the game down a bit with his throwing but has a decent feel for calling pitches and handling the game.

Intangibles: High level baseball IQ, hard worker and wants to develop. Super kid to be around.

Overall Outlook: Headed to the ACC and Boston College, has two more years before he gets there but he will put the work in. Needs physical strength.
