Uncommitted Spotlight: 2025 SS Romani Perez

As we finish up the 2024 season, we now continue our coverage of the talent we've seen up to this point in Colorado with 'Uncommitted Spotlights' of the top prospects still on the board in the senior class. While there's already prospects in the class committed to programs already, there remains a slew of high-end talent still available.
These spotlights help paint a picture of the prospect with the help of our TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance and Vizual Edge systems, that provides objective data that teams use to identify and break down players they believe will fit into their system.
Today, we continue our Top Uncommitted Spotlights with a look at 2025 SS Romani Perez of Prairie View HS. Perez will be a four year varsity starter for the 5A Thunderhawk program and he has held down over a .310 batting average in each season thus far. Last spring, Perez hit .390 with 9 doubles, a triple, and a 1.033 OPS in one of the toughest leagues within the state. The uncommitted infielder comes with a 94 mph top exit velocity and a 77 mph bat speed with plenty of defensive feel as well. Perez's strong frame at around 6-foot projects well for his future development at the next level.

Positional Profile: SS/RHP Follow for grade, athletic infielder with actively developing power.
Body: 5-10, 180-pounds. Strong and athletic build.
Hit: RHH. Upright, open stance, feet narrow, hands at shoulder, bat angle flat, quiet stance. Load with hands and backside, toe tap, medium stride, active and connected top/lower half, short to the baseball, long through the zone.
Power: Some ability to lift the baseball with actively developing power and quality hands.
Arm: RH. INF-82 mph. Shorter arm swing out of a lower 3/4 arm slot.
Defense: Prep step, athletic feet, fields the ball out front, funnels to chest, soft hands, fluid transfer and release, quality range.
