Denver Rising Stars: Quick Hits

On Monday, June 10th, the Prep Baseball Colorado staff hosted the Denver Rising Stars event at the Marucci Clubhouse in Castle Rock, Colorado. This event featured ~20 prospects from the 2028 - 2029 classes and allowed our staff an opportunity to get an in-depth look at the players in attendance. Today we'll continue our deep dive into the data collected at this event within this 'Quick Hits' story.

Thomas Shank SS / OF / Rock Canyon, CO / 2028Shank displayed some advanced all-around feel in this event thanks to an exit velocity over 94 mph from the left-side, a fastball over 80 mph on the mound, an 85 mph infield velocity and an 86 mph outfield velocity. The incoming freshman has a high ceiling and plenty of projection on the way with his athletic frame over 6 foot tall and developing strength.

Connor Thrush OF / RHP / Cherokee Trail, CO / 2028Thrush was the biggest winner of the Denver Rising Stars event as he posted a 90 mph throwing velocity from the outfield while ramping the fastball up to 85 mph on the mound. We also saw some twitchy strength from Thrush with the bat, giving him plenty of two-way upside at the moment. The Cherokee Trail freshman is worth a close watch moving forward.

Travis Kenz SS / RHP / Valor Christian, CO / 2028Kenz is another projectable left-handed bat as he produced a 90 mph exit velocity last Monday. The freshman was able to showcase a smooth stroke with some plate coverage as well. We can also tell you that Kenz chucked 82 mph from the infield with a fastball around 80 mph on the mound and pitchability.
