QUICK HITS:
Karter Vega-Hernandez SS / 2B / Fountain-Fort Carson, CO / 2026Karter comes in at 5'9'' and 144 Ibs with some twitchy strength and athleticism. The junior infielder and pitcher has posted a 6.88 60 yard dash with a 92 mph top exit velocity, and a fastball up to 86 mph on the mound. Karter continues to develop and should be an impact player for his Fountain-Fort Carson program this spring.
Alijah Medina SS / RHP / Cherokee Trail, CO / 2026Medina is an advanced athlete that impressed at this event thanks to his 6.91 60 yard dash, an 88 mph infield throwing velocity, 95 mph exit velocity, and a 73 mph bat speed. The Cherokee Trail junior currently stands at 5'11'' and 142 Ibs with plenty of defensive feel and wiry/twitchy strength. At the plate, he produces quality leverage with the lower half and clean hands through the zone. Medina comes with a higher ceiling in the near future if he continues to develop.
Brady Bradford SS / 2B / Fossil Ridge, CO / 2027Bradford is a former Junior Future Gamer and he has developed exceptionally well since summer of 2023. The toolsy left-handed hitting infielder has now posted a 6.9 60 yard dash time, a 91 mph top exit velocity, and a 75 mph bat speed as an underclassman. The smooth left-handed swing on Bradford excels with his quick hands and plate coverage. Bradford also comes with progressed feel in the infield and could end up with plenty of 5A varsity experience after the Colorado spring season.
Noah Reickert OF / 3B / Cheyenne Mountain, CO / 2026Reickert continues to impress and during this event he produced a 103 mph top exit velocity, an 80 mph bat speed, and a 6.93 60 yard dash time. The physical athlete comes in at 6'0'' and 190 Ibs with tons of projection for future development. Reickert has a simple swing with fast and strong hands that stay through the baseball well.
Carson Reffel OF / 3B / Legend, CO / 2027Reffel will be a big mover in the upcoming 2027 rankings update as he has made strides this summer and fall. The Legend underclassman showcases a controlled swing from the right-side with twitchy strength and a consistent barrel rate. Reffel currently sits at a 94.1 top exit velocity with a 78.2 mph bat speed, an 86 mph outfield throwing velocity, and a 6.90 60 yard dash time. The well-rounded game from Reffel also has a chance to make a big impact on his 5A Legend Titans' program this spring. Reffel is worth a close watch in 2025.
Jaycob Park SS / RHP / Broomfield, CO / 2027Another twitchy/athletic young player within the state right now is Jaycob Park. The infielder impressed the Prep Baseball Colorado staff during this year's State Games over the summer, and he continues to develop quite well. We have now seen Park up to a 92 mph top exit velocity with a 7.05 60 yard dash time. Park's swing continues to advance with a strong lower half and quick hands.
Cole Bobbin 3B / RHP / Mountain Vista, CO / 2027Bobbin is another Junior Future Games alumni who continues to beef up the toolset. The Mountain Vista underclassman is currently 6'0'' and 160 Ibs with some potential two-way upside. Bobbin has produced a 92 mph top exit velocity, a 74 mph bat speed, and an 87 mph infield throwing velocity as a position player. We got to see some of Bobbin's development on the mound since summer of 2023, and he was able to ramp the fastball up to over 82 mph, but had the spin rate on the curveball at over 2,600 rpm. Bobbin already has some varsity experience under his belt and has plenty of big upside in the near future.
Blake Elsberry RHP / OF / Fruita Monument, CO / 2027We continue our run of standout 2027s with a look at Blake Elsberry. The Fruita Monument underclassman was able to register a fastball up to 85 mph (~2100 rpm) with a serviceable curveball (~2100) and changeup. As a hitter, Elsberry was able to get up to a 96 mph top exit velocity, a 74 mph bat speed, 91 mph outfield throwing velocity, and posted a 7.14 60 yard dash. Elsberry's 6'3'' frame should bode well for future development as well.
Drake Jenkins OF / RHP / Timnath, CO / 2026Jenkins is a strong and athletic player who just keeps getting better. In this event, Jenkins produced a 90 mph outfield throwing velocity, a 93.3 mph top exit velocity, and a fastball up to 83 mph on the mound. The long levers on Jenkins helps him generate natural strength at the plate with a whippy arm action on the mound and in the field. Jenkins is a high waisted athlete with a frame at 6'1'' and 177 Ibs, worth keeping a close watch on.
Jackson Phillips RHP / OF / Ponderosa, CO / 2027Phillips was one of the biggest winners on the mound during this event as the underclassman posted a fastball up to 86 mph (~2100 rpm). The off-speeds on Phillips register as a curveball (~2100) and changeup that he was able to place all over the strikezone. The overall pitchability from Phillips impressed as a young arm with plenty more left in the tank as well. Phillips comes in at 6'0'' and 159 Ibs, making him a potential high upside arm worth noting in 2025.
Cameron Mares C / RHP / Pueblo West, CO / 2027Mares is one of the top ranked 2027s in Colorado who has already been to the 2023 Junior Future Games, and this summer's first ever Super Sophomore Games. The versatility on Mares is exceptional, but he has continued to make progress as a higher level catching prospect. During this event, Mares posted a 1.87 top pop time, a 76 mph catcher throwing velocity, a 93 mph top exit velocity, and a 76 mph bat speed. We also saw Mares ramp the fastball up to 83 mph with a curveball, slider, and a strong changeup. Mares is consistently able to attack the zone with his full arsenal and an easy/repeatable delivery. The Prep Baseball Colorado staff has now had the opportunity to see Mares in games at two seperate national events and can tell you that he has a well-rounded feel of the game with advanced baseball IQ. Mares is now 6'3'' and 190 Ibs as he heads into his sophomore year.
Tyler Kephart C / RHP / Fossil Ridge, CO / 2026There is no shortage of strength when it comes to Tyler Kephart. The junior was a standout across the board at this event thanks to his fastball that topped out over 90 mph, a 106 mph top exit velocity, an 84 mph catcher throwing velocity, and outlier bat speed over 80 mph. Kephart is 5'11'' / 192 Ibs and uses all of his frame to max out the toolset. The upcoming 2025 spring season could be a breakout year for the Fossil Ridge junior.
Austin Stanford RHP / 3B / Mullen, CO / 2026Another standout arm from this event was Mullen's Austin Stanford. The frame is easy to dream on from Stanford at 6'1'' and 175 Ibs with wiry athleticism. During this event, Stanford presented a fastball and curveball combination with some electricity. The fastball on Stanford sat from 86-88 mph with an average spin rate of 2,350 rpm. We saw Stanford parlay the quality fastball with a swing and miss curveball he was able to spin at 2,200 rpm and around 15 inches of horizontal movement. Stanford is worth a close watch in 2025.
Romani Perez SS / RHP / Prairie View, CO / 2025Perez is an uncommitted senior with some intriguing tools. In this event, we saw Perez post a 96 mph top exit velocity with a 77 mph bat speed while displaying advanced feel in the infield. |
Josiah Hussey OF / RHP / Erie, CO / 2025Hussey is another standout uncommitted senior who has some impressive tools. The Erie outfielder was able to get up to a 101 mph top exit velocity with an 80 mph bat speed in this event. We have also seen Hussey throw 87 mph from the outfield with some athleticism and a 7.1 60 yard dash time.
Matthew Schimberg 1B / OF / Grandview, CO / 2027Schimberg stands at 6'6'' and 225 Ibs as an underclassman. The Prep Baseball Colorado staff was impressed by Schimberg's ability to display athleticism at his size, while also producing outlier strength. At this event, Schimberg was able to post a 100 mph top exit velocity and a 75 mph bat speed with defensive feel as well. Schimberg's unique frame gives him quite the ceiling in the future if he continues to develop at this pace. Certainly a name to note for the 2025 calendar year.
Levi Lueck 1B / Arvada West, CO / 2026Lueck comes with a smooth swing from the left-side that produced a 99 mph top exit velocity and over an 80 mph bat speed in this event. The Arvada West junior has the ability to generate plenty of leverage from the lower half with fast and twitchy hands. Lueck hit .375 as a sophomore in a smaller sample size last spring, and has a chance to be a pivotal piece to the Wildcats' offense in 2025.
