We're now 50 days past the 2022 West Coast Games and the commitments have been rolling in early and often for Colorado's squad. The biggest of the bunch was Laif Palmer's commitment to Oregon State and another big highlight is three players staying in-State at Northern Colorado... Trevor Landen, Sam Pease and Brandon Sanchez.

The team went 2-1 on the weekend in three tight contests with all games and the showcase taking place UNLV and the College of Southern Nevada.

It was the second straight summer that PBR Colorado sent a loaded roster to Vegas after last year's team saw 4 Division I commitments and a total of 14.

Brandon Sanchez SS / 2B / Legacy, CO / 2023

Northern Colorado (NCAA DI): 5-foot-8, 160-pound baseball player. Strong for his frame and generates bat speed with a leg lift and compact swing. He can play middle infield, third base, and the outfield. He showed a disciplined approach at the plate and a feel for the running game when on base. He can hit for avg with occasional power. Defensively the hands and feet work with plenty of arm strength to stay at shortstop. He plays the game with energy and attitude.

Samuel Pease C / OF / Fossil Ridge, CO / 2023

Northern Colorado (NCAA DI): 5-foot-10, 180-pound catcher who is athletic enough to play corner outfield also. His pop-times were 1.95-2.08, with a position velocity of 77. Easy approach at the plate, no wasted movement, inside-out swing, with a lot of 90-plus exit velocities in BP. In-game he plays with a high motor and can do it all behind the plate. Offensively, he put together good at-bats, will get hit by a pitch, execute the game situation and steal a base if needed. Strong kid with good all-around skills who can find a way on the field at multiple positions.

Trevor Landen RHP / SS / Heritage, CO / 2023

Northern Colorado (NCAA DI): 6-foot-3, 180-pound middle infielder with good actions up the middle. His hands and feet work with easy arm action. At the plate, he has a short and quick swing with a middle approach. He is a good athlete with room to fill out. Easy frame to dream on as a pitcher or position player.

Sat 84-87 topping at 88. He mixes a curveball at 72-75 with 2600 plus spin (2786 max). This pitch showed swing and miss characteristics and can be an absolute out pitch with further consistency. He also has a change-up he mixed in vs. left-handed hitters at 78-81. He is an infielder also, which has limited his in-game reps on the mound. The more experience he gets, the more consistent and confident he will become.

Brett Rozman C / OF / Palisade, CO / 2023

Central Arizona (NJCAA DI): 5-foot-10, 170-pound athletic catcher with present strength and more room to fill out. His pop times were 2.00-2.09, with a position velocity of 77 in the workout. Wide base with balance at the plate, middle approach with pull side pop. In-game he controlled the pitchers, received well, showed good mobility, and threw dimes on stolen base attempts. It seemed like he was on base every at-bat, good feel for the running game at 1B and 2B, and showed his pop with a grand slam vs. Team Utah. Tough kid who plays with energy and will make a pitching staff better with his abilities behind the plate.

Gavin Hunt OF / RHP / Valor Christian , CO / 2023

Azusa Pacific (NCAA DII): 6-foot-4, 195-pound outfielder with a good frame and present strength. Has a middle, opposite-field approach and came up big with the bat in pressure situations during game action. Probably projects more as a corner outfielder with arm strength to play both sides. Runs the bases well (6.95-60) and showed an overall feel for the game.

Laif Palmer RHP / OF / Golden, CO / 2023

Oregon State (NCAA DI): 6-foot-6, 200-pound RHP. He opened some eyes with his projection. You can dream on his frame and stuff. He has room to fill out and repeats for his size. Long levers that he can control and be on time. In his four innings, the fastball sat 87-90 with a little natural cut, and the slider was 80-3, with some depth. He created uncomfortable at-bats for hitters. If he puts the work in, his ceiling is high.

Gabriel Jacobs RHP / OF / Ponderosa , CO / 2023

Azusa Pacific (NCAA DII): 6-foot, 170-pound RHP with a short arm stroke and athletic delivery. He made quick work in his four innings with a fastball that sat 84-87 and good command of the zone. His change-up was 80-2, with the difference maker being his curveball. The 73-76 pitch was on point. He threw it in any count, and it mirrored his fastball out of hand. He understands who he is and executed his plan.

Carson Sherrill RHP / OF / Chatfield, CO / 2023

Eastern Oklahoma State (NJCAA DI): 5-foot-11, 185-pound RHP with a strong and sturdy frame. Attacked the zone with a fastball at 86-88, topping at 89. He uses two off-speed pitches, a slider at 76-77 with some depth and a change-up at 76-79 with good arm speed. Fast-paced and compact delivery comes right after the hitter. With his mentality and work ethic, he should continue to progress.
