Top Prospect Games Preview

The Prep Baseball Report’s Top Prospect Games event will take place this Saturday and Sunday August 6th and 7th. This premier event will feature the best of Classes 2018, 2019 and 2020 prospects from the state of Colorado. The event will take place at the Historical Cherry Creek High School Baseball Field. These classes will come together in a pro-style workout and a series of games to strut their stuff in front of the PBR scouting staff. Rankings for these classes will be updated following this event.

No 1 Tanner O'Tremba (Cherry Creek)
The No. 1 overall 2018 Otremba has taken Cherry Creek and put them on his shoulders. He has been a one man wrecking crew at the plate. In the 5A district playoffs the weekend before O'Tremba helped Cherry Creek win both district games by going 5 for 7 with a double, HR, and 4 RBI's. The homerun in the first inning was off an 87 mph fastball and set the tone against the No. 2 overall seed Regis Jesuit. Cherry Creek won both games 11-0. O'Tremba carried his momentum to this past weekend by going 5 for 9 with 6 RBI's and another homerun to lead Cherry Creek to the 5A Final Four. Currently O'Tremba is hitting .496 on the season with 34 RBI's and 6 homeruns.
No. 3 Justin Olson (Pine Creek)
6-foot-2, 200 pounds. Bats and throws left. Olson has been tearing up high school pitchers since his freshman year and has already hit 3 homeruns this year. Olson has advanced power potential. He stands in a slight crouch at the plate, and has no problem turning on any inside fastball. Olson also has a presence on the mound. Currently he has pitched 9 innings in 2016 carrying 1-0 record and has 18 strikeouts.
No. 4 Cole Winn (Silver Creek)
6-foot-1, 170 pounds. Winn has recently committed to Notre Dame. Winn is armed with a fastball that lives between 87-89 mph, and projects to increase when he puts on some more weight. Winn has come on the seen in 2016. When Winn learns to have more fastball command he's going to be even more of a force. He has currently pitched 16 innings and has 27 strikeouts on the season.
No. 6 Jordan Medina (Highlands Ranch)
6-foot-0, 186-pound right hand hitting catcher/right hand pitcher who ran a 4.23 home to first. At the plate he hits from a narrow open stance. He loads on his back foot and then weight and hands come through the zone together. Good barrel whip creates an exit velocity of 92 MPH. He has a plus arm behind the plate at 85 MPH and a 1.99 pop-time. On the mound he stand tall and hides the ball well. He has good extension on release and featured an 85 MPH fastball. He also showcased a 64-68 MPH curve and a 72-75 MPH change.
No. 7 Dalton Chandler (Lamar)
A 6-foot-4, 195-pound right hand pitcher who is a presence on the mound with his 6-4 frame. He stand tall and works from a quick motion, he throws from a high ¾ arm slot and does a nice job of keeping arm speed up on all pitches. He lands in-line with the plate and falls off to the first base side on his finish. He featured an 86 MPH fastball with movement away from the right hand hitter. He added a 67 MPH curve with sharp 11/5 break and a 70 MPH change that works down in the zone. Identified with the best power fastball for the UCI.
No. 8 Luke Ziegler (Valor)
6-foot-2, 175-pounds. Bats and throws right. On the mound he stands tall and falls to the plate. He lands slightly closed and throws from a high ¾ arm slot. He showed good command of all three pitches. Worked at 83-84 mph but touched 85 MPH a few times with late movement, a 64 MPH curve with 11/5 break and a 75 MPH change that lived down in the zone. Took a 2-hit shutout into the 6th innings and dominated a good hitting Farmers team. On the season Ziegler is 3-1 with a 1.60 ERA in 35 innings pitched.
No. 16 Brock Bernall (Pomona)
5-foot-10, 155 pounds. Bats and throws right. Wide balanced stance, toe tap approach. Level swing through zone for line drives. Fast hips to inside pitch. Good looking athlete. Bat speed produced an 82 mph exit velocity off the tee. In the outfield charges and goes back well on ball. Long over the top throwing slot was 78 mph. Ran a 7.06 60 which was one of the top 5 times a the event.
