Top Prospect Games Preview 2019's

The Prep Baseball Report’s Top Prospect Games event will take place this Saturday and Sunday August 6th and 7th. This premier event will feature the best of Classes 2018, 2019 and 2020 prospects from the state of Colorado. The event will take place at the Historical Cherry Creek High School Baseball Field. These classes will come together in a pro-style workout and a series of games to strut their stuff in front of the PBR scouting staff. Rankings for these classes will be updated following this event.

No. 4 Jett Hoggatt (Rocky Mountain)
A 6-foot-1, 190-pound right hand hitting catcher/OF who ran a 7.20 60. At the plate he hits from a slightly open stance with a high leg kick for timing. Swing plane is level through the zone with good extension out front. 89 MPH exit velocity produced several balls off the left center wall. In the outfield he is athletic and moves well on balls in the gap. He throws from an over the top motion and delivers an accurate 82 MPH ball to the bag. Behind the plate he is quiet and frames pitches well. He shows good actions on blocking the ball and quick feet to get in throwing position. Pop-times were 2.06-2.08 and arm velocity was 79 MPH.

No. 23 Kellan Vogesser (Ft. Collins)
A 6-foot-0, 165-pound right hand pitcher who stand wide on the mound and does a nice job getting to balance. He breaks his glove early and throws from a high ¾ arm slot. He will benefit from getting more extension out front on his delivery. He showcased a 77 MPH fastball that works away from the right-handed hitter. He added a 63 MPH curve with sweeping 10/4 break and a 69 MPH change with good downward movement.

No. 29 Zack Medina (Highlands Ranch)
5-foot-9, 180-pound right hand hitter who ran a 4.63 home to first. At the plate he hits from a balanced stance with a high leg kick and load to his backside. He has an uphill swing path with good extension at contact. He had an 85 MPH exit velocity. In the field he covers good ground and gets square on the baseball. He throws from a high ¾ arm slot and delivers a 78 MPH ball with accuracy. On the mound he is simple to the plate. He sinks and drives from balance and lands in-line with the plate. He finishes in good square position. He throws from a high ¾ arm slot and featured a 76 MPH fastball with good command in and out. He added a 66 MPH curve with sweeping 11/5 break and a 65 MPH change.
