The Prep Baseball Report’s Top Prospect Games took place on August 6th and 7th at the historical Cherry Creek High School Baseball Field.  70 prospects showed up and strutted their stuff in a pro-style workout. Over the next several days the PBR Scouting staff will roll out position-by-position rankings of the event, culminating with the Top Ten Overall Prospects from the showcase. We first started with the catchers. Today we cover the corners.

We posted the Statistical Breakdown from the Top Prospect Games, which you can view HERE.

Outfield Analysis: Best of the Best

Tanner O’Tremba, OF/RHP, Cherry Creek High School (2018)
A 6-foot-0, 210-pound right hand hitter. O'Tremba has a motor that doesn't turn off. In the Top Prospect Games he went a total of 5-6, but what impressed the PBR staff was his hustle double off a routine single. O'Tremba ran a 6.9 laser timed 60, the 3rd fastest time at the event. At the plate he hits from a slightly open stance and uses a leg kick for timing now to come square.  He shows extremely quick hands to the ball, and good hip rotation at contact.  He registered a showcase best 96 MPH exit velocity (We have had at 97 in past events). In the field he is smooth through the ball and has a good over the top delivery. Ranges very well going back on ball stealing what looked like a no-brainer double.  He had an 84 MPH arm velocity from . O'Tremba is one of the top players to follow in the 2018 class.

Hayden Heinze, OF, Rocky Mountain High School, 2018
5-foot-9, 145 pounds. Bats and throws right. Heinze ran an impressive laser timed 6.6 60, the fastest of the day. Heinze also showed plus defensive skills in the outfield throwing 83 mph, and using that speed to show impressive range. At the plate Heinze drove a ball deep to left center and turned it into a 2-run triple, taking 10.75 seconds to get to 3rd. At the plate has a simple tall stance, short stride, hands start a little low, and a swing that wants to produce line drive/hard ground ball contact. He's short to the ball with his hands but gets good extension through the baseball. In the outfield has a lot of range, and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with accuracy.

Best of the Rest Listed Alphabetically

Quinton Clark, OF, Sand Creek HS (2018)
5-foot-8, 170 pounds. Bats and throws left. At the plate has a lot of movement to start. Leg kicks starts back then comes forward, hands load down then back, but then he was on time. Gap to gap power. More physical then last time we saw him. Exit velo was an improved 82 mph off the tee up from 67 last Top Prospect Games. From the outfield arm strength improved as well going from 74 to 78. Arm action is long back from the outfield and throws from a 3/4 arm slot. Ran a 7.40 laser timed 60.

Justin Friedman, OF, Highlands Ranch High School (2019)
6-foot-1, 150 pounds. Bats and throws right. Athletic lanky looking outfielder with good overall tools. At the plate stands tall and has leg kick that loads back first then comes forward. Hands load straight back but then drops to ball entering hitting zone. Swing is in the hitting zone level, and gets good extension. Showed well at he plate all weekend. Was a tough out. Produced an 84 mph exit velocity off a tee. Played the outfield a little cautiously. Threw from a short high 3/4 arm slot at 74 mph. Ran a 7.50 laser timed 60. Once he grows into body more is an intriguing prospect in the 2019 class.

Davin Jacobs, OF/RHP, Lamar High School (2018)
5-foot-10, 210 pounds. Bats and throws right. Has balanced stance with minimal stride. Hands start a little low but then load into a good hitting position. Has pull tendencies with good power potential. Good extension through zone with level swing. Produced a 84 mph exit velocity off the tee. In the outfield is aggressive to the ball and does a good job getting behind it, with a long arm high 3/4 arm action throwing 74 mph. Ran a 7.8 laser timed 60.

Henry Rock, OF/RHP, Fairview High School (2019)
5-foot-11, 182 pounds. Switch hitter/throws right. At the plate looks a little stronger from the right side then left. From the right side is slightly opened with a leg kick stride. Has pull tendencies with a slightly up hill swing. Produced a 83 mph exit velocity off a tee. From left side is more balanced and has better bat speed producing an 88 mph exit velo. Slightly uphill, with one hand finish. Gap to gap power. On the mound hides the ball well, and throws from an over the top arm slot showcasing an 80 mph fastball. Falls off to 1st base side a little. Curve ball has tight 12/6 spin between 64-67 mph. Ran 7.53 laser timed 60.

Frankie Shearn, Columbine, OF, 2018
6-foot 170 pounds. Bats and throws right. We have seen Shearn a lot, and no player has shown more improvement than he has over the last two years. You can never ignore the speed (running a 6.7 laser timed 60), but Shearn has cleaned up a lot of mechanics with throwing and hitting. On defense arm strength has improved to 78 mph from the outfield from a high 3/4 arm slot. At the plate has a balanced wide stance with short stride and good lower half rotation. Sometimes comes off extension too soon but gets better leverage to ball now. Gap to gap power producing a 77 mph exit velo. Things are starting to come together as he's getting bigger and stronger.

Calvin Schonebaum, OF/LHP, Valor Christian High School (2018)
A 5-foot-11, 155-pounds. Bats and throws left. At the plate he hits from an slightly open stance with a short stride. Head is very quiet. Hands load straight back.  He hits against a firm front side with a slight uphill swing path but everything is a line drive.  He registered an 81 MPH exit velocity.  In the field he is smooth through the ball and throws from a high ¾ arm slot with a slight tail.  He has a 74 MPH arm velocity.  On the mound he has an effortless delivery, everything square and inline to the plate. He throws from a high ¾ arm slot and comes across his body.  He showcased a 73 MPH fastball touching 74 with good command of the outer 1/3rd of the plate.  He added a 62 MPH curve with late 1/7 break  and a 70 MPH change. Both thrown from same arm speed as fastball. Ran a 7.8 laser timed 60.

Joshua Simpson, OF, Woodland Park High School (2018)
5-foot-11, 170 pounds. Bats and throws right. At the plate has a slight crouch in his stance. A lot of weight on back side. Leg kick trigger and hands load back. Line drive hitter to both sides of field. Produced a 70 mph exit velocity off the tee. Could improve that if he extends a little more through the ball at contact. From the outfield charges aggressively to the ball and puts everything in his throw. Was 74 mph from right to 3rd. Ran a 7.7 laser timed 60.
