Q&A with 2022 Arkansas Commit, Christian Foutch
February 22, 2022
Last May, 2022 right-hander Christian Foutch announced his commitment to the University of Arkansas. Despite the commitment to a big time school, his path to Arkansas wasn't a traditional one as Foutch says he didn't have much interest of college coaches until he attended the Colorado Recruits Scout Day in December 2020.
The PBR Colorado staff sat down with Christian Foutch to discuss his commitment process, why he chose Arkansas and his experience with PBR during his time playing baseball in Colorado.

Q&A with Christian Foutch
Q: What was the recruiting trail like for you? Were colleges interested early on and how did you get on the college coaches radars?
Foutch: Recruitment for me was definitely a lot different than a lot of other people’s experiences because I had to make a decision without making any visits due to Covid. I had received no college coach contact until the December 12th PBR Scout Day at Marucci Clubhouse, and after that I had received multiple coaches reaching out. This was right before the start of my junior spring.
Q: You are committed to Arkansas, how did you connect with them and what was it like talking to their staff? Did you visit, and if so how was that?
Foutch: I connected with Arkansas after a relief inning this last spring. Some scouts were there and reached out to the pitching coach Matt Hobbs. I fell in love with the staff at Arkansas because of how genuine and real they were. They were very welcoming and made me feel like Fayetteville could be a second home. I wasn’t able to visit before my commitment, but I will be heading down soon, and am super excited!
Q: What made you choose Arkansas over other schools that gave you offers?
Foutch: What made me choose Arkansas was the winning culture. I wanted to go somewhere that I was going to be pushed and challenged by the best college coaches and best collegiate players in the nation. The level of competition was a major factor in my decision to go to Arkansas, and of course getting to play under a legendary coach such as Coach Van Horn.
Q: Now that you have finished your recruitment process, do you have any advise for young '23s, ‘24s, 25’s or even ‘26s who have just started this process?
Foutch: Be patient, and don’t rush anything. It can be very stressful, but if you do the work it’ll get noticed.
Q: Lastly, out of all the PBR events you have attended in your career, what has PBR meant to you during your tie playing baseball in Colorado?
Foutch: It has exposed me in ways I never thought. PBR and Mike Anderson have both been crucial in my recruitment process, and without PBR I wouldn’t have gotten the exposure I had. They have helped put Colorado on the map for recruiting, and will continue to show off what Colorado has to offer.
