The future Warrior backstop explains his journey during the dead period of COVID and how he was able to get on colleges radars. Camden also offers advise to younger athletes who are looking to get recruited and what he had to go through.

Camden explains what made Wabash Valley feel like home and what it was like to play in the Future Games down in Georgia.

Q&A with Camden Ross

Q: You attended the Future Games in Georgia. When you left the event and headed back to Colorado, what was your overall impression of the event?

Ross: I attended during the COVID-19 dead period and I thought PBR did a great job of streaming and making data available for scouts to see. It was well run and nice to represent Colorado.

Q: What was the recruiting trail like for you, before you attended the Future Games? Were colleges interested early on and how did you get on the college coaches radars?

Ross: I had interest before the Future Games but no official offers. With my club team, Slammers, we play in a lot of highly recruited tournaments across the country. This put me in front of a lot of college coaches. 

Q:  You are committed to Wabash Valley JC, how did you connect with them and what was it like talking to their staff? Did you visit, and if so how was that?

Ross: Coach Fournier saw me at a USA baseball tournament in Arizona. We talked quite a bit while I was out there and I got to know a lot about the program and what they stood for. I took a visit during the summer and it went great. I enjoyed my visit with coach Fournier and coach Drullinger and felt like their interest in me was genuine.

Q: What made you choose Wabash Valley JC over other schools that gave you offers?

Ross: Their historic program and the genuine interest they showed in me was the main reason why I chose Wabash Valley College. Coach Fournier is well known for sending players to the Division I level and the MLB Draft.  

Q: Now that you have finished your recruitment process, do you have any advise for young '23s, ‘24s, 25’s or even ‘26s who have just started this process?

Ross: Don’t overlook the JUCO route. Decide what your goals are and find a school that shows real interest in you.

Q: Lastly, out of all the PBR events you have attended in your career, what has PBR meant to you during your time playing baseball in Colorado?

Ross: PBR has helped get my name and stats out there for college coaches to see. A few of the schools I talked to came directly from PBR events.
