Q&A with Underclass Invitational Participant Dillon Schroeder

Prep Baseball Report Colorado is ready to hit the ground running in 2016 with two major events. The Underclass Invitational event at Slammers South will take take place on January 31st. Over the coming weeks, PBR Colorado will introduce you to 2018 and 2019 players who have committed to this event. Continuing our look is 2018, LHP/1B, Dillon Schroeder of Grandview High School.

PBR:  Describe yourself as a baseball player to those who have never seen you play:
Schroeder: I would describe myself as a competitor to people who haven't seen my play before. I'm very smart and know what to do when it comes to different situations in the game. I always want the ball in critical situations. I’ll always be there for my teammates no matter what happens and I’m a leader for my team.

PBR:  What would be your dream school to play baseball at? If you have already committed to play at the next level, why did you choose that particular school?
Schroeder: My dream school to play baseball at is the university of Arkansas.

PBR:  What are your best assets on and off the field at this point in your high school career? Schroeder: Some of my best assets on and off the field in this point of my high school career are hardworking and trustworthy. When I'm off the field I will be hardworking to make sure my schoolwork is completed and on the field I will be working hard between the lines everyday. I can be trustworthy because people can trust me to do what is needed to be done.

PBR:  What is the best baseball advice you have received and try to follow to this point in your career?
Schroeder: My best baseball advice I have received is it is really important to have strong mental toughness when you’re playing. It's important to make sure you keep a good mindset when playing and to not let the game take advantage from you.

PBR: What does your off-season routine look like to prepare for the upcoming season?
Schroeder: My off season routine to help me prepare for the upcoming season is going to push performance everyday to get me stronger and faster for the upcoming season. Also before the season starts I take time off throwing and then lightly ease in to throwing.

PBR:  What are your superstitions or routines that go on during a season?
Schroeder: Some superstitions or routines I have through the season Is my hitting routine. I always make sure to do my routine when on deck and when in the batters box.

PBR:  What are your goals for:

This Season: My goal this year is to start for JV and continue to get stronger for my career ahead of me.

Two Years: My goal in two years it to be a starting player for varsity and to win state, also my senior year I would like to have committed to play college baseball.

Four Years: My goal in 4 years is to be playing baseball at a D1 university.
