Q&A with Underclass Invitational Participant Ben Brady

Prep Baseball Report Colorado is ready to hit the ground running in 2016 with two major events.  The Underclass Invitational event at Slammers South will take take place on January 31st. Over the coming weeks, PBR Colorado will introduce you to 2018 and 2019 players who have committed to this event.  Continuing our look is OF/RHP, Ben Brady, 2018 from Discovery Canyon High School.

PBR:  Describe yourself as a baseball player to those who have never seen you play:

Brady:  I am competitive on and off the field. I love to win and hate to lose. I am a decent corner outfielder, right-handed pitcher, and middle of the order hitter.

PBR:  What would be your dream school to play baseball at?  If you have already committed to play at the next level, why did you choose that particular school?

Brady:  The dream school that I would like to play baseball at would be Texas Christian University. I chose this college because I love the Fort Worth area and my grandparents are just up the street from Fort Worth.

PBR:  What are your best assets on and off the field at this point in your high school career?

Brady:  My best assets are my work ethic. I love to be at the cages hitting and being around my teammates. I believe I am competitive. I don't like losing and I will do what I can to help my team be successful.

PBR:  What is the best baseball advice you have received and try to follow to this point in your career?

Brady:  To be myself. Since I've heard that, I stopped worrying what others were doing and focused on my game. I am also not afraid to strikeout. I believe that if I am scared to strikeout, usually I do.

PBR: What does your off-season routine look like to prepare for the upcoming season?

Brady:  My off-season consists of speed and strength work at D1. I work out at Colorado Baseball Academy in Colorado Springs 2-3 times a week as well.

PBR:  What are your superstitions or routines that go on during a season?

Brady:  One of my superstitions is the normal baseball player superstition: not stepping on the lines. I also never step in the batters circle before I go up to bat.

PBR:  What are your goals for:

This Season: I would like to be a core leader on my high school team, improve my ERA, and lead my team in home runs.

Two Years:    In my senior year, I hope to lead my team to a state championship, and possibly make the all state team.

Four Years:  In four years, I would like to be excelling in baseball at a Division 2 or better institution.
