Q&A with Tommy Marsh

Q: You attended the Future Games in Georgia. When you left the event and headed back to Colorado, what was your overall impression of the event?

Marsh: The atmosphere at the Future Games is really special. The opportunity to compete against the best players nationally in front of hundreds of college coaches is something I will never forget. I was excited to play with all of the guys on the team, and I knew we would compete well as it was a special group.

Q: What was the recruiting trail like for you, before you attended the Future Games? Were colleges interested early on and how did you get on the college coaches radars?

MarshI had been speaking to several schools in the lead up to Futures. I started doing PBR events in middle school and consistently used the profiles and metrics from those events to market myself to my target schools. Being from Colorado, I knew I had to take a proactive approach to my recruitment.

Q: You are committed to Tulane, how did you connect with them and what was it like talking to their staff? Did you visit, and if so how was that?

MarshI connected with Tulane in the Winter of 2020 and continued to provide them with updates on my play and individual progression every few months. They had always been one of my target schools and several coaches from their staff were able to see me play at Futures. I made my first visit to Tulane last October, to see the campus and play in front of the staff, and I committed shortly after the trip.

Q: What made you choose Tulane over other schools that gave you offers?

Marsh: I immediately felt a connection with Coach Jewett. He showed genuine interest in me as a person and I am confident about the direction of the program. As a two-way player, Tulane was one of the few schools that were willing to consider me as a position player and pitcher. The academic and athletic reputation of Tulane was also very important in my decision.

Q: Now that you have finished your recruitment process, do you have any advise for young '23s, ‘24s, 25’s or even ‘26s who have just started this process?

MarshEmbrace the grind and try to be patient. The recruiting trail is filled with ups and downs, and it's easy to get caught up in the pressure of playing well at big tournaments or showcases. Surround yourself with people who believe in you and take advantage of local PBR events to build your confidence.

Q: Lastly, out of all the PBR events you have attended in your career, what has PBR meant to you during your time playing baseball in Colorado?

Marsh: PBR gives you instant credibility in trying to bring attention to your talents. The exposure I received from the 10+ PBR events I have participated in was invaluable in generating attention from schools. I owe a lot to Coach Anderson and his belief in me as a player.
