Prep Baseball Report

Q&A with Preseason All-State Participant: Ayden Eberhardt

By Jeff Markle
Assistant State Director

As the season rolls on, Prep Baseball Report Colorado will continue to bring you an inside look into several of the players who attended the Preseason All-State event.  Kicking off this round is Ayden Eberhardt, 6-foot-1, 170 pound, SS/RHP, 2016 from Loveland High School.

PBR:  Describe yourself as a baseball player to those who have never seen you play:

Eberhardt:  As a shortstop in the field you have to be a leader and make sure everyone is on the same page and you have to make sure everyone knows the next play. I do exactly this, I communicate to everyone and I always keep moving on and get ready for the next play. As a hitter I jump on early pitches in the zone but I can battle when I'm in the hole and at least put it in play.

PBR:  What would be your dream school to play baseball at?

Eberhardt:  My dream school to play baseball at would be the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

PBR:  What are your best assets on and off the field at this point in your high school career?

Eberhardt:  My best assets on and off the field are my ability to make decisions very quick that are correct, I also communicate very well to my surroundings, I am also always positive and give one hundred percent no matter what the circumstances are, and I always strive to become better whether that be on or off the field.

PBR:  What is the best baseball advice you have received and try to follow to this point in your career?

Eberhardt:  Back in little league I was once told that you always want to keep a level head. You don't want to get too pumped about a play and you also don't want to get too down if you're struggling. Baseball is a game of struggle, that's why it is one of the toughest games out there. You are set up to lose almost seventy to eighty percent of the time. You have to always keep your head up and give your very best because you can make the best play of your life and the next play you miss a more routine play.

PBR:  What are your superstitions or routines that go on during a season?

Eberhardt:  During the season I don't drink any caffeine. I always have an egg sandwich and a glass of chocolate milk before every game. Before I hit I always put on my left batting glove on before my right and I don't strap them.

PBR:  What are your goals for:

This season: My personal goal for this season is to bat 450 or higher. To also help my team make the playoffs.

Two years: To be at a university for baseball that gives me the best opportunity and learning as possible.

Four years: To be preparing for my junior season of college baseball. I like to look one season at a time and make the most of my opportunities throughout my career.
