Back in September Jacob Syverson committed to Missouri State. The future bear shares his experiences during his recruitment trail. He also talks about his time down in Georgia, playing in the Future Games. 

The right-handed pitcher offers his advice for younger athletes and what PBR has meant to him.

Q&A with Jacob Syverson

Q: You attended the Future Games in Georgia. When you left the event and headed back to Colorado, what was your overall impression of the event?

Syverson: I really liked the event and felt it was well run.  With all the college coaches, the amount of exposure was some of the best.

 Q: What was the recruiting trail like for you, before you attended the Future Games? Were colleges interested early on and how did you get on the college coaches radars?

Syverson: Before the Future Games, I had some college interest, but it wasn't very serious. I had some colleges reach out to my high school coach and some colleges come to see me at tournaments. I feel I got on college coaches' radar by putting my name out there through showcases and then just performing in those showcases.

Q: You're committed to Missouri State, how did you connect with them and what was it like talking to their staff? Did you visit, and if so how was that?

Syverson: I connected with them through the Future Games and they contacted me after I threw against team Oklahoma. Their staff was extremely nice to me and helped me a lot during the process. I did go and visit before I made any decisions and on the visit the facilities, field, team, and coaching staff made me see myself going there. Which is when I knew it was the right school for me.

Q: What made you choose Missouri State over other schools that gave you offers?

Syverson: Missouri State was my favorite because they were super nice guys and me and my family, really liked the school and the program. They expressed the most interest in me and I felt like they would develop me the best to have a chance at playing at the next level after college.

Q: Now that you have finished your recruitment process, do you have any advise for young ‘24s, 25’s or even ‘26s who have just started this process?

Syverson: The best advice I could give to younger players who just started is to get your name out there and to make sure playing at the next level is something you really want to do because the process is a grind. 

Q: Lastly, out of all the PBR events you have attended in your career, what has PBR meant to you during your time playing baseball in Colorado?

Syverson: PBR has played a huge role in my recruiting process, Mike and all of the other PBR guys have helped me a lot over the years and feel they are a very big reason I'm at the point that I'm at. I feel PBR has given me a ton of exposure and helped me get my name out to coaches all across the country.
