The Colorado Fall Prospect Games will be held October 1st and 2nd at Highlands Ranch High School. Participants from the classes of 2020-2017 will participate in a pro-style workout and games for the PBR Colorado Staff. Over the next few weeks we will introduce you to several of the participants, continuing our look is Sam Grim, 3B/SS, Roosevelt High School (2019).
PBR: Describe yourself as a baseball player to those who have never seen you play:
Grim: As a baseball player, I show a lot of heart on the field, baseball is my passion and it truly shows by the way I carry myself and also by the way I play the game. I am a short-memory player, meaning if I make a mistake, I learn from it then forget about it.
PBR: What would be your dream school to play baseball at? If you have already committed to play at the next level, why did you choose that particular school?
Grim: My dream school to play baseball at would be the University of Texas at Austin. It has been a dream ever since I started playing competitive baseball.
PBR: What are your best assets on and off the field at this point in your high school career?
Grim: Both on and off the field I show a lot of determination and character. Whether it be baseball, school, or even life in general, I always show maximum dedication. I am a huge team player and I'm always doing what's best for the team and always building up my teammates.
PBR: What is the best baseball advice you have received and try to follow to this point in your career? Grim: My current high school coach has always told me," There's always someone better than you, but that doesn't give you an excuse to not work as hard as them," I always keep this advice in mind on and off the field. Having this mindset pushes me to work as hard as possible.
PBR: What does your off-season routine look like to prepare for the upcoming season?
Grim: During the fall and winter I do workouts with my school team, and last fall I played for a club team.
PBR: What are your superstitions or routines that go on during a season?
Grim: I always wear stirrups as a superstition that it helps me play better, and I always do the same routine at the plate and in between pitches.
PBR: What are your goals for:
This Season: This season my goal is to keep my spot at starting varsity shortstop and to become more of a power hitter.
Two Years: In two years my goal is to be committed to a college and to be an all-conference or even all-state player.
Four Years: In four years my goal is to be attending a great baseball college and to be starting at shortstop.
