The Colorado Fall Prospect Games will be held October 1st and 2nd at Highlands Ranch High School. Participants from the classes of 2020-2017 will participate in a pro-style workout and games for the PBR Colorado Staff. Over the next few weeks we will introduce you to several of the participants, continuing our look is SS/2B Gavin Roberts from Chaparral High School (2020).
PBR: Describe yourself as a baseball player to those who have never seen you play:
Roberts: I am a middle infielder with soft hands and quick feet and pitch on occasion as well. I am a leader and team player, and even though it is sometimes difficult I try to have a short memory during games, so that I'm there to pick up my teammates.
PBR: What would be your dream school to play baseball at? If you have already committed to play at the next level, why did you choose that particular school?
Roberts: I would like to play at a D1 school that has a great academic program in sports management.
PBR: What are your best assets on and off the field at this point in your high school career?
Roberts: I am very coachable and respectful. I am goal oriented and work extremely hard so that I can achieve my goals.
PBR: What is the best baseball advice you have received and try to follow to this point in your career?
Roberts: Respect the game. When I step on the field whether its a game or practice, I give 100% and play/practice baseball the right way.
PBR: What does your off-season routine look like to prepare for the upcoming season?
Roberts: Weight training, speed training and a throwing program to strengthen my arm. I do something everyday in order to get better.
PBR: What are your superstitions or routines that go on during a season?
Roberts: My biggest superstition is to put my socks on a certain way every time. As far as routines....I watch a motivational video and then listen to my music in the car ride there.
PBR: What are your goals for:
This Season: Make varsity this year as a freshman
Two Years: Have a verbal offer from a college.
Four Years: Graduate High School with a 4.0 GPA and prepare for my college baseball career.
