Player Highlights from the DFC

Many players had great performances in the first annual PBR Fall Diamond Classic. Below are some highlights of what players did over the weekend.

Saturday 8/22/15-18U Division)

2016 RHP Paul Tillotson and 2016 RHP Bo Weiss of Slammers Holzemer combined for a no hitter against UA Prime on Saturday. They combined for 14 strikeouts in 7 innings. In the same game 2016 OF Cooper Shearon hit a homerun.

Parker Friedentag had an impressive weekend for TCR.  Parker Friedentag was 2-3, 2B and 1B, 3 RBI's against Arvada West, and in the same game 2016 RHP Donovin Martinez threw a CG with 4 k's. In the next game against Lightning Friedentag partnered up with 2017 RHP/SS Kyle Cardona to pitch a shut out. 2016 1B Ryan Sullivan for Lightning went 2-3 with a double in the loss

PBR North beat Rock Canyon 11-3 on Saturday and 2016 OF Austin Carson was 2 for 3, HR, 4-RBI's scored twice,and 2016 2B JP Demers was 2 for 3, 2 RBI's and scored twice. In next game against Slammers Mouton PBR North won 9-2. 2016 Josh Schumacher was 2 for 3 with a 2B and RBI, 2016 OF Austin Cauble went 2 for 2 with a 2B, RBI, and BB, and 2016 C Danny Prickett was 2 for 3 with a 2B and 2 RBI's. On the mound 2017 RHP/1B McGwire Bledsoe went 4 plus innings with 4k's and gave up 2 ER

 

Sunday 8/23 (18U Division)

TCR beat the Roughnecks in a close game 6-5. 2016 C Colton Hager was 4-4 and hit 2 doubles, and
2016 OF Sam Beyer and Ben Taylor had 2 RBI's each. Hager also threw 6 innings and had 4 k's.

Lightning had an amazing day on Sunday with back to back no-hitters. In the first game 2016 RHP Christian Manmano  went 5 innings needing only 53 pitches to beat the Roughnecks 10-0. Sullivan had another good game at the plate going 2-3 with 2 runs scored. In the second game 2016 RHP Zach Berg, 2016 RHP Billy Moreland, and 2016 RHP Jaden Stromire combined for another no-hitter with Berg going 4 innings with 6 k's beating Arvada West 8-0. 2016 OF Matt Meraz and 2017 C Casey Opitz had good games at the plate both going 2-4, and Optiz stealing 3 bases. On a side note Casey Opitz back-picked two runners off the bases this weekend.

Team Colorado Fiscus beat SDBA 6-1. 2016 RHP Wade Council went 6 innings striking out 13 batters only giving up 1 hit. 2018 OF Alex Potter was 2-3 with 2 doubles and an RBI.

PBR North played Rock Canyon in the 1 vs 2 seeding game and won 6-1. 2016 LHP/1B Gavin Gifford went 2.0 innings, 4K's, 1 BB, 0 ER and 2016 RHP Alex Covarrubias went 1.1 Innings, 3 K's, 0 BB, 0 ER. Demers had another solid day at the plate going 2-2 with 2 runs scored.
