League play is underway in all classification, here is a look at action from yesterday.
Daily Roundup:
Arvada West 5 Ralston Valley 4
In a great game on Tuesday, and with the scored tied going into the bottom of the 9th inning 4 to 4, Arvada West was able to push a run across to beat Ralston Valley. Arvada West’s Sammy Capritta (2017) was 2 for 4 with an RBI, and for Ralston Valley Nik Levensteins (2018) was 3 for 3 with an RBI. Both pitchers did an outstanding job, for Arvada West Tyler Norris pitched 6 innings allowing just 5 hits, and for Ralston Valley, Drake Davis threw 7 innings allowing just 3 hits.
Cherry Creek 6 Grandview 0
Cherry Creek put up 4 runs in the 1st inning and never looked back shutting out the Wolves in this critical league game. The Bruins were led by Tyler Schultz (2018) who was 2 for 3, scoring a run, and driving in another.
Mullen 3 Overland 2
Mullen scored 3 runs despite just having 2 hits, compared to Overland that scored only 2 runs with 7 hits, but Overland also committed 3 errors. Pitching for Mullen and doing an outstanding job was Clayton Burke (2019) who threw a complete game and only allowing 2 runs, while striking out 7 Trailblazers.
Valley 8 Eaton 2
Valley took charge of this game scoring 6 runs in the first 3 innings. Valley was led by, Jose Mercado (2018) who was 2 for 3, scoring twice, and driving in 1 run.
Legacy 8 Fort Collins 0
Legacy scored 2 in the top of the 3rd and then added another 4 in the top of the 4th, and went on to beat Fort Collins on Tuesday. The Lightning were led by Ross Smith at the plate who was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI’s and the pitching of Ryan Overboe (2018) who pitched 5 2/3 innings allowing just 1 hit to go along with 10 strike outs.
Jefferson Academy 5 Kent Denver 1
Jefferson Academy’s Terry Strauber (2017) and Daniel Moriarty (2017) combined to throw a 1 hitter at Kent Denver. Strauber did most of the work going 5 and 2/3 innings.
Mountain Range 2 Fairview 0
Mountain Range scored 1 run in the top of the 2nd and 3rd innings to beat the Knights. Mountain Range pitcher Brayden Brooks (2018) went 5 innings allowing 5 hits and 0 runs, and Jacob Arellano (2017) came in for the final 2 innings to keep the shutout in place.
