Baseball is back here in Colorado. Games got started this weekend and have spilled over into week three of the season. Here is a rundown of action from around the state.
Daily Roundup:
Chatfield 4 Thunderridge 2
- Highlands Ranch
In a game that featured two of the best right handed pitchers in the state No. 2 2016 Jake Eissler for ThunderRidge and No. 18 2016 Tanner Johnson for Chatfield, it was no surprise the score was 1-0 going into the 5th innning which only took 50 minutes to reach. Johnson got the best of this matchup throwing a complete game 3 hitter against the Grizzlies. In the Top of the 6th Chatfield taking advantage of an early season pitch count limit on Eissler broke the game open with back to back doubles by 2016 Jake Knoll and 2017 Nate Semmler to go up 4-0. ThunderRidge would mount a mini comeback in the bottom of the 6th cutting the lead 4-2 with a double by OF No 187 2016 Bret Jones, and an RBI by Eissler. However that was as close as Johnson would let them get. Johnson notched his first complete game win of 2015. Eissler of ThunderRidge had 8 strikeouts in 4 innings. 2016 Chad Shultz of Chatfield was 2 for 3.
Regis 7 Arapahoe 3
Coach Darr from Regis called it “a good character win” for the Raiders. Heading into the bottom of the 6th Regis was down 1-0, but then Regis batted around in the seventh, to come up with the win. They were led by: No. 5 2016 Quin Cotton and No. 2018 Brodie Marino had a 3 run shot in the 7th. No. 1 2016 Bo Weiss and No. 7 2016 Travis Marr threw 5 shutout innings.
