PBR Colorado strives to be the most comprehensive source of player information across the state. The Prep Baseball Report is the No. 1 resource for high school baseball in each state we cover through our variety of events, boots-on-the-ground scouting staff, daily coverage, and multimedia platforms. Our multimedia platforms and events work in tandem, ultimately creating the most powerful source of high school baseball promotion in each state. Scouting Report
9-22-18
6-foot-1, 158-pound right hand hitting SS/RHP who ran a 7.50 60. Strong athletic hitter at the plate hitting from a balanced wide stance. Lift and place stride and level path through the zone. Hands have good whip and ball carries well into the gaps. Exit velocity was 77 mph from the tee. Defensively he moves well and fields through the ball. Glove is above average and arm is short and accurate across the diamond. Arm played at 76 mph. Simple set up on the mound with a slight drop and drive motion on the delivery. Arm is long and from a high ¾ slot. Fastball has good life and sat 82-86 mph with late run. Near fastball arm speed on his secondary pitches. Curve sat 65-67 mph with sharp 11/5 break and his change was 72-74 mph with late sink.
Uncommitted. 6-foot, 150 pounds. Have had Thompsen at past events before, but velo has really jumped since then. Throwing a firm fastball, Thompsen lived 88-89 the first inning, eventually settling in at 86-87. Arm has some wrap-back, slight pause in delivery then is quick through the zone from a high 3/4 arm slot, inline and square to the plate. Curve was thrown for strikes with 11/5 shape. Was a swing and miss pitch at 72-73 mph. In this game Thompsen threw 5.1 innings giving up 2 hits while striking out 6. Thompsen has more room to fill out and add velo for sure. Projects as a Upper D-1 pitching prospect.
