Scouting Report
6-foot-1, 175-pound right-hander Mitch Haythorn is another name that’s really benefited from 2021 as he continues to grow. We saw the uncommitted Eaton HS product sit 85-87 this past year and he continues to locate extremely well. He has a plus slider at 78 mph with late, two-plane break. Haythorn’s two-seam and changeup both have plus movement and the overall ceiling is very high.
Thin 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame. Right-handed pitcher starts with hands over head and a high leg-kick with strong coil. Uses lower half well and creates good sync. Fastball topped out at 81.7 mph and 2083 spin rate. CB/SL was 69-70 while the changeup has good arm speed and movement at 73 mph. Haythorn has ++two-seam with arm side run. Very projectable and one of the top 2024 follows in Colorado.
5-foot-10, 170-pound right-handed pitcher. Small rocker step to side transitions to pivot. Toes right side of the rubber. Very high, balanced leg lift. Hands go over head and back to high position. Tall to fall delivery with a slight lean and his stride is in line. Long, quick arc on backside and clears head to a high ¾ release and uses glove side leverage well. Has slight retraction on front foot landing. Fastball sat 75-77 with some run and he located it well. Slider at 65 with great feel, location and two planes. Changeup at 69 with excellent feel and arm speed. A nice surprise from Haythorn as a confident and comfortable arm in the 2024 class. Slider has ++potential. Very projectable and a top follow in his class.
