LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - We have wrapped up the busy summer season of showcases, tournaments and various events around the state of California and move into a new school year with the 2025 CIF baseball season rapidly approaching. The summer circuit presented our staff with numerous opportunities to get live looks, track performances, and observe the continued improvement/development of players in the class of 2027. With the visibility afforded to our staff to evaluate players over the last couple of months, Prep Baseball California presents our updated Class of 2027 Player Rankings.

With the amount of exposure afforded to our staff in the summer time to see more players within the 2027 class we have made an expansion of our rankings to 150 players. Included in that expansion we see a bit of change especially within the Top 10 with 2 new names joining and a bit of a shake up to the structure of the Top 10.

Beyond the Top 10 we see several players continue to rise up the rankings board and numerous players coming into the rankings for the first time after this summer headed into their sophomore year of High School. All players included within this latest update are looking to carry their progress from the 2024 summer circuit into the upcoming Fall/Winter baseball period with an eye on the 2025 CIF high school season at the start of the new year to help the varsity programs at their schools to on field success.

This class is now advancing towards the recruiting process after the rule change in April of 2023 to halt early communication with players prior to August 1st of the summer headed into their junior season of High School. As a result of the new rule, we have a deep stable of talented uncommitted players who are going to be looking to catch the eyes of college coaches in the coming 11 months to be on the radar for their turn on Aug. 1st 2025 to begin the recruiting process.

Below you'll find the Top 10, Top 10 Uncommitted Players, along with more in-depth reviews on our Top Risers and Top Newcomers for the 2027 class.

TOP-10 RISERS:

+ Dylan Seward - SS - Norco - Uncommitted (Now: 2 Previous: 3)

The smooth fielding, athletic LH hitting Seward just continues to make moves up the board and has put himself right on the fringe of potentially taking over the No. 1 spot in the future. After a very strong spring at Norco put him in the 3 spot, Seward went out and impressed on the national stage for Prep Baseball VP of Scouting Shooter Hunt and in front of Prep Baseball California staff, including several very good looks by Central Coast evaluator Steven Hardesty at Brewers Area Code Tryouts and SoCal Scout League opening day.

+ Sean Parrow - RHP - Sierra Canyon - Uncommitted (Now: 3 Previous: 4)

Parrow lit up the spring high school circuit that pushed him into the Top 5. The prototype 6'4 long limbed pitchers body combined with a FB that reaches the 90 MPH mark and an upper 70's CB and feel for a CHG. He continues to impress in looks by the Prep Baseball California staff and moves up one spot into the number 3 position.

+ Logan Schmidt - LHP/1B - Villa Park - Uncommitted (Now: 4 Previous: 10)

A super talented 2-way prospect who shows real potential on each side of the game, his strong summer was capped by a loud performance at the Area Codes Underclass games for the Brewers squad in-which he throughly impressed our staff. Jumping six spots, the LH hitter swung a hot bat all summer long showing real impact while adding a FB that reaches the low 90's and has peaked at 93 MPH. With room to continue developing/improving his overall package we may see Schmidt continue to move up in the future.

+ Jose Partida - LHP - La Jolla Country Day - Uncommitted (Now: 5 Previous: 7)

The 6'1 185 lbs. athletic Partida has been amongst the top players in the '27 class since the first rankings. He was solid for the La Jolla Country Day squad at the plate and on the mound during the spring and then this summer saw his arsenal take a jump while also showing an interesting LH swing. Now with a FB comfortably in the mid-to-high 80's while peaking at 90+ MPH and showing feel for his secondaries to comfortably dominate lineups, he rises into the Top 5 players in the '27 class.

+ Ira Rootman - OF - Harvard Westlake - Uncommitted (Now: 6 Previous 11)

Rootman built on a very good spring with Harvard Westlake that put him on the doorstep of a Top 10 spot by hammering the baseball all summer long. The RH hitting OF was one of two '27s to join Team California at Future Games this summer where he swung the bat very well and showed CF defensive potential. Along with his showing in Georgia, Rootman routinely hit the baseball hard throughout the summer and shows real top of the order potential. He joins the Top 10 players in the '27 class in California.

+ Mariano Gonzalez - LHP - Vanden - Uncommitted (Now: 10 Previous: 28)

Gonzalez had previously flashed plenty of potential that had him sitting in the Top 30 players in the '27 class. Now after a summer that saw him routinely work in the low 90's with a FB up to 93 that has easy life out of the hand, the 6'1 185 lbs. Gonzalez makes a large jump up the board into the Top 10. His performance with Alpha Prime on the summer circuit in front of our staff late in the summer helped cement this move for him, and don't be surprised if he isn't finished rising up the board.

TOP-1OO RISERS (11-100):

+ Ethan Gustus - RHP/OF - Roseville - Uncommitted (Now: 14 Previous: 21)

Gustus checks in with an uber projectable 6'5 175 lbs frame that has wiry present strength and after a good spring on the Roseville varsity squad he came out and put together a strong summer with Alpha Prime. Gustus works off a FB in the mid to upper 80's while adding a downer CB that reaches the low 70's. Impressive on the mound, he also shows a quality RH hitting profile with pull side impact and corner OF defensive profile that could give him long term 2-way potential.

+ Antonio Cuevas - SS/OF - Elk Grove - Uncommitted (Now: 18 Previous: 19)

Cuevas stood inside the Top 20 previously and now after a strong summer for Alpha Prime the 6'1 170 lbs. Cuevas makes a small bump up 3 spots. With an up the middle defensive profile that flashes the tools to stick at two different premium spots (SS/CF) that combines with what looks like a top of the order offensive profile, Cuevas may not be done rising up the board.

Kirchner opened eyes during the fall/winter high school exhibition circuit with an imposing 6'2 195 lbs. frame and feel for a low to mid 80's FB and promising offspeed pitches. He took a small jump after the spring as a piece of the Harvard Westlake varsity program which finished runner up in the CIF-SS D1 level. Heading out to the summer circuit with Legacy Baseball Travel program he continued to build on his very strong foundation earning All Tournament Team at the 15U USA Baseball National Team Championships in Cary, NC. Kirchner is also showing an intriguing RH swing with 3B defensive potential that helps bring his stock up 6 more spots inside the Top 30.

+ Alexander Elizondo - RHP/OF - Murrieta Valley - Uncommitted (Now: 29 Previous: 57)

Elizondo was a member of the Prep Baseball California Junior Future Games team in 2023 and after an up and down spring for the varsity team at Murrieta Valley, the 6'5 185 lbs. toolsy Elizondo made a strong statement on the summer circuit making a case for a big jump up the board. He cemented his case with a loud performance at the CA State Games where he had the top FB velocity in the low 90's while also crushing a 99+ MPH triple in game. There is rawness to the overall package, but the tools are loud with a ceiling that is high, and if he can reach his potential, his rise up the board will not be done.

+ Mason Majewski - LHP - St. Josephs - Uncommitted (Now: 31 Previous: 35)

Smooth, athletic LHP's who feature easy arm speed and clean deliveries are always ones to keep eyes on, and this Central Coast Prep from St. Joseph's High school is making his case for being at the top of the board. After a very good spring with the Knights where he helped them to a CIF-Central Section D2 semifinal berth, he went out and backed it up with several dominating performances for the 5 Star Mafia travel progam. With a FB that reaches 86-87 MPH with plenty of room to add as he gains strength, and matures, and continues to develop feel for his CB/CHG offspeed combo, the rise for Majewski is likely not done.

Now after a solid summer playing for the ZT National program which saw him swing the bat at a high level, he will return to JSerra looking to earn a prominent spot in their lineup as a sophomore where a good spring in the Trinity League could bring an additional rise up the board in the future.
