All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.
Today, we put the spotlight on the number 130 ranked player in the 2026 class in SoCal '26 SS/RHP Aiden Simpson from Corona Centennial High School. Simpson has made two appearances on the Prep Baseball California events platform including 2023 Future Games Tryout and 2023 CA State Games. Across each of his appearances Simpson has displayed a sound package of tools in an athletic projectable frame. This past spring he was a key contributor to a Corona Centennial Huskies program that went 22-7 while finishing second in the Big VII behind Prep Baseball National Champion Corona High. Simpson played in 27 of 29 games on the spring slashing .284/.369/.378 a nearly even K/BB ratio, picked up 4 doubles with 1 HR while driving in 15 runs, scoring 14 runs while stealing 4 bases for the Huskies. In addition he made 2 appearances on the mound with 1.2 IP and 4 Ks during that time while allowing 1 hit and no runs, but did walk 3 hitters.
Simpson presents a strong athletic build at present standing 6'2 200 lbs. who has added strength to his frame as he continues to mature. A solid athlete who ran the 60 in around 7.2 seconds at the 2023 CA State Games with short distance burst including a 1.68 10 yard split with a 4.01 30 yard split while reaching a top speed of 19.2 MPH. His defensive actions and present 82 MPH INF arm strength give him potential to stick at an up the middle INF position, but he will need to continue adding strength to his arm to stay at SS long term.
In addition to a quality INF defensive profile with up the middle long term projections Simpson adds a well rounded RH hitting profile to his collection of tools backed by a strong showing in his Soph. campaign on varsity. The RH hitter displayed a sound athletic swing in 2023 with a solid foundation on Blast Motion. Simpson averaged 67.3 MPH of bat speed with a max of 69.8 MPH while adding in quick hands with 21.5 MPH average hand speed with a peak of 22.3 MPH showing quality present torque in his turn with a peak of 14 Gs of rotational acceleration and averaged 11.7 Gs throughout his batting practice at the 2023 CA State Games. He consistently produced some intriguing batted ball data during batting practice including a peak of 95.8 and averaging 86 MPH on his exit velocity during 2023 CA State Games batting practice. His present bat speed with torque combined with a solid approach/rhythm to his operation in the box from a lift based swing path that produced an 89% Fly ball/Line drive rates with middle of the field doubles power and potential HR impact to the pullside as he matures including a max distance of 320'.
He increases his profile with a solid potential on the mound though he had limited opportunities to show it during the 2024 High School season with a predominantly SR. laden staff at Corona Centennial he will likely see increased opportunities on the mound in 2025. At the 2023 CA State Games the righthander showed off a 80-83 MPH FB that peaked at 84-85 MPH including peak spin rates above 2400 RPMs while averaging around 17" of IVB with an average of around 11" of horizontal arm side run on the pitch. He backs the FB up with a sweeping shaped SLD at 71-74 MPH with an average of 16.6" of horizontal break that peaks at 20.3".
Coming off a year in which Simpson gained valuable experience competing against high level High School baseball talent on the SoCal scene and flashed his ability to perform at a strong level with the intrigue of how he can continue to develop/improve his tools and performance as he matures the whole package for the 2-way prospect out of the Inland Empire is on the rise. Aiden Simpson is a name that college coaches should be paying close attention to for their 2026 classes.
