The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as we lead up to the start of the 2024-2025 school year. Prep Baseball California will be highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '26 athletes as we have passed the August, 1st contact date for this class. The player featured today is one of the top players in the state of California and figures prominently in our Class of 2026 Rankings. All players featured within our Uncommitted Spotlight series are ones that college coaches and fans should be keeping their eyes on over the coming months.

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts both through our in person looks at players and/or the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on the number 88 ranked player in the 2026 class in SoCal '26 OF Alex Mestman from Patrick Henry High School. With an athletic and wiry 6' 170 lbs. frame Mestman caught the eye of Prep Baseball CA scout Matt Monk during the spring High School season as an interesting RH hitting OF and then came to the Future Games Tryout: OC and put together a stellar performance. During the workout portions of the Future Games Tryout: OC Mestman showed off his athletic and defensive ability looking like a potential CF defender running a 6.83 seconds 60 time with a max run speed of 21.7 MPH while mixing in a accurate 82 MPH OF arm. While his defensive ability at a premium spot what Mestman does on the offensive side a RH hitter with a swing shows well metrically with hand speed (22.2 MPH) bat speed (70.5 MPH) via Blast Motion. During batting practice he has shown the ability to produce hard line drive contact including a peak EV at 89.4 MPH and feel for getting his barrel to contact including a 71% sweet spot rate.. As he prepares for his JR. campaign at Patrick Henry High School he will look to build on a solid Soph. season that included a .293/.343./.347 slash line with 3 doubles and 22 runs scored. The arrow is starting to point up for Mestman as a player to keep close eyes on over his final 2 years of high school/travel baseball.
