We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts both through our in person looks at players and/or the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, and Swift Performance provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.
Today, we put the spotlight on the number 142 ranked player in the 2026 class in SoCal '26 3B/C Travis Perry from Classical Academy High School. Perry has made three appearances on the Prep Baseball California events platform including 2024 Future Games Tryout: Orange County, 2023 CA State Games and 2023 Inland Empire Open ID. Across each of his appearances Perry has displayed an interesting package of tools in a strong frame. This past spring he saw time on the varsity level in San Diego for his Classical Academy High School team and showed some flashes of his potential that he can tap into more frequently as he goes forward in his high school career.
Perry presents a strong athletic build at present standing 6'1 200 lbs. who has some present strength to his frame and room to add more as he continues to mature. A solid athlete who ran the 60 in around 7.23 seconds at the 2024 Future Games Tryout: Orange County with short distance burst including a 1.63 10 yard split with a 3.93 30 yard split while reaching a top speed of 18.6 MPH. His defensive actions and present arm ability give him potential to stick on the INF dirt at 2B/3B, but he will need to continue adding strength to his arm. As well, there is some intrigue to his profile as he shows a foundation of ability to handle catching long term including pop times as low at 2.01 in 2024.
In addition to a quality defensive profile, Perry profiles as a potential corner power RH hitter who has shown flashes of the impact in his bat for the Prep Baseball California staff. The RH hitter has consistently displayed strength in his swing on Blast Motion. Perry has reached a max of 69.6 MPH while adding in quick hands with a peak of 22.1 MPH hand speed. The torque he generates in his swing is an outlier trait as he peaks at 31.5 Gs of rotational acceleration which adds to the intriguing batted ball data Perry produces during batting practice. Our Trackman batted ball data has shown Perry to have a peak of 99.2 and averaging 90.4 MPH on his exit velocity during 2024 Future Games Tryout: Orange County batting practice. His present strength with torque combined with a leverage based swing path that produced an 62.5% Fly ball/Line drive rates with a 50% hard hit rate and 63% sweet spot rate. There is still some rawness to his approach/timing that can be developed and improved to help him reach his potential as a impact RH hitter.
Coming off a year in which Perry gained valuable experience competing against high level High School baseball on the SoCal scene with continued time to improve his overall game the RH hitter out of San Diego is a name to keep eyes on for what he can this upcoming spring and into the future.
