Ventura, Calif. - The Uncommitted Spotlight Series takes a dive back into the 2025 class as this class begins its SR. year of High School there are still several talented uncommitted players in this class who figure prominently in our Class of 2025 Rankings.  All players featured within our Uncommitted Spotlight series are ones that college coaches and fans should be keeping their eyes on over the coming months.

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts both through our in person looks at players and/or the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, and Swift Performance provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on the number 336 ranked player in the 2025 class in SoCal '25 SS/OF Cody White from Bonita High School. White has a wiry athletic frame at 6' 180 lbs. that shows plenty of room to continue adding strength as he matures. His athleticism jumps out including a 6.75 60 with burst off the line (1.73 10 yard - 3.81 30 yard splits) and intriging top end run speed (21 MPH max run speed). He moves around the INF with comfort showing quickness in his first step, good footwork/hands and body control that gives him a SS potential and would be an impactful 2B profile defender. In addition, he is a strong enough athlete with arm strength to potentially make a move CF.

With an interesting blend of potential to handle a few different premium defensive spots what the RH hitting White presents from an offensive profile is as interesting. His operation at the plate is simple with a balanced set up, a small forward move in his load that gets rhythm to his approach and his hands load efficiently while staying back to allow them to adjust to pitches. White uses a compact direct path with his hands/barrel while showing leverage to present a high contact all fields approach. He has present quickness to his swing metrics including hand speed up to 20.7 MPH with quality bat speed at 69.2 MPH while adding quality torque in his turn with 12.7 G's of rotational acceleration. His approach/timing and quality swing combine into consistent batted ball data from Trackman including a max exit velocity up to 88.6 MPH while averaging 83.7 MPH. The leverage in the swing path presents a gap to gap doubles profile with consistency finding the barrel (63% sweet spot rate).

As he prepares for his SR. campaign this fall/winter to return to a prominent spot in the lineup at Bonita High which is looking to build on a very strong 2024 campaign which saw them make the CIF-SS D1 playoffs and earn a first round victory. White is poised to contribute prominently in their potential success for the 2025 season and continue to flash his arrow up profile as a talented uncommitted '25.
