The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as we have started the '24 CIF High School baseball season Prep Baseball California is now highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '25 athletes. The players featured are pulled directly from our '25 Class Rankings. These JR year players are ones that college coaches and fans should be keeping their eyes on over the coming months.
We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts and the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.
Today, we put the spotlight on a NorCal '25 SS/2B Mason Ravera from Granada High School. Ravera is a wiry framed athlete who profiles to play up the middle on the infield dirt with an interesting switch hitting offensive profiles. He has room to continue adding strength/athleticism to his frame which will help him tap into his tools as he continues to mature. The swing is direct from both sides of the plate although more polished and explosive from the RH side, but does show a feel for bat to ball from LH side with room to continue developing. He shows torque in the turn especially on the RH side with quickness to the hand path that plays to his middle of the field line drive based approach which can spray the gaps with line drives to collect extra base hits. Ravera's raw power is fringey presently at 90 MPH on the max exit velocity, but he has shown the feel to consistently hit the baseball hard on the upper ends of his max velocity range with an average exit velocity of 85.8 MPH with a sweet spot rate of 70%. His hands are solid on the infield with feel to play both 1 and 2 handed with consistency while his footwork is fundamental, but can improve as he continues to get more athletic and play lower with his hips. Arm shows plenty of strength with accuracy to stay on the left side of the INF dirt with accuracy and comfort throwing from different arm slots, but may need to polish his transfer and shorten his arm stroke slightly as he advances up to the next level of baseball. Ravera has experience on the mound with a 83-85 MPH FB, 76-78 MPH CHG and 71-73 MPH SLD which all have flashed potential, but there is rawness to his work on the mound. As a solid switch hitter who can stick on the infield dirt and potentiall remain on the left side of the dirt with an interesting pitching profile Ravera is a name that college programs should add to their '25 recruiting boards and be tracking this spring/summer going into the fall.
College coaches and fans be sure to click on Ravera's profile to see full video and statistics.
