The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as we have started the '24 CIF High School baseball season Prep Baseball California is now highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '25 athletes. The players featured are pulled directly from our '25 Class Rankings. These JR year players are ones that college coaches and fans should be keeping their eyes on over the coming months.
We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts and the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.
Today, we put the spotlight on a SoCal '25 OF Joshua Sur from Corona High School. With a strongly built 5'11 175 lbs frame that has strength to it presently the Corner OF defender for the powerhouse Panther programs has an intriguing all over profile. He shows 7.15 speed in the 60 with quickness off the line (1.72 10 yard burst) while showing an accurate 81 MPH OF arm. Sur has a quality swing in the RH batters box with a medium leg lift out of an open stance and quiet hands in the load process once he gets to the launch position Sur takes an aggressive swing with bat speed (73.6 MPH max), quickness in his hands (23.3 MPH max), torque in the the turn (22.2 G's of rotational acceleration) that plays to his middle to pull approach with leverage in the path. His raw power shows well reaching 94.8 MPH on his max exit velocity while consistently barreling baseballs with authority (86.7 MPH average exit velocity/83% sweet spot rate) for our staff. On a team full of superstar commits Sur has been a steady producer this spring hitting .346 in consistent playing time with a pair of extra base hits. With athletic ability and some strength to his physical profile, solid defensively ability and an intriguing offensive profile Sur is a name to know in the '25 class for college programs looking for impact pieces for their lineups.

Positional Profile: OF/RHP Sur has some quality tools still developing, a powerful swing with some good athleticism.
Body: 5-11, 176-pounds. Athletic build. Developed physique.
Hit: RHH. Narrow stance, front foot is open. Hands are are at head level with the bat over his shoulder. Long stride, smaller load. Fast hands, heavy pullside. 71.2 mph bat speed with 17 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 95 max exit velocity, averaged 83.3 mph. 320' max distance.
Arm: RH. OF-80 mph. Short arm action with a quick release. Good accuracy.
Defense: Good mover in the outfield, creates good angles and momentum with his feet.
ATH: 7.38 runner in the 60. 1.84 and 4.14 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.
