Ventura, Calif. - The Uncommitted Spotlight Series takes a dive back into the 2025 class as this class begins its SR. year of High School there are still several talented uncommitted players in this class who figure prominently in our Class of 2025 Rankings.  All players featured within our Uncommitted Spotlight series are ones that college coaches and fans should be keeping their eyes on over the coming months.

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts both through our in person looks at players and/or the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, and Swift Performance provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on the number 316 ranked player in the 2025 class in SoCal '25 OF/C Joshua Brown from Oaks Christian High School. Brown presents an athletic frame at 6' 185 lbs. that shows some present strength to it. His athleticism jumps out including a 6.72 60 with burst off the line and quickness to his run stride throughout. He moves around the OF with comfort showing quickness in his first step, good routes and body control that gives him a CF potential and would be an impactful LF profile defender. In addition, he looks comfortable on the INF where his hands are soft and there is present feel for the fundamentals of his footwork with potential to handle 2B. In addition, Brown has shown potential to handle the premium spot defensively of catching with a solid glove, athleticism to his actions back there and the foundation of a solid throwing arm that can be polished into a solid backstop.

With an interesting blend of potential to handle a few different defensive spots what the RH hitting Brown presents from an offensive profile is intriguing. His operation at the plate is simple with a balanced set up, a small forward move in his load that gets rhythm to his approach and his hands load efficienly while staying back to allow them to adjust to pitches. Brown shows a direct path with his hands/barrel while using his lower half effectively in the turn portion of the swing. He has present quickness to his swing metrics including hand speed up to 21.7 MPH with present bat speed at 73.2 MPH while adding quality torque in his turn with 10.3 G's of rotational acceleration. His approach/timing and quality swing combine into impressive batted ball data from Trackman including a max exit velocity up to 100.3 MPH while averaging 87.2 MPH. The leverage in the swing path presents a gap to gap doubles with pull side HR power potential profile including a max distance of 357'.

As he prepares for his SR. campaign this fall/winter to compete for a prominent role in the lineup at Oaks Christian which is looking to build on a very strong 2024 campaign which saw them make the CIF-SS D1 playoffs. Brown is poised for a good chance to contribute in their potential success for the 2025 season and continue to flash his arrow up profile as a talented uncommitted '25.
