The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as we have started the '24 CIF High School baseball season Prep Baseball California is now highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '25 athletes. The players featured are stellar performers from our 2023 SoCal Uncommitted Games. These JR year players are ones that college coaches and fans should be keeping their eyes on over the coming months.

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts and the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on a SoCal '25 C Evan Wied from La Jolla High School. With a physical strong build at  5'11 195 lbs frame who shows an intriguing RH offensive profile with potential to stay at C. A LH hitter with strength in his bat path while showing quickness in his hands at 26 MPH, 77.2 MPH bat speed while showing torque in the turn with 23.8 G's of rotational acceleration. His batted ball data from Prep Baseball California workouts shows raw power that plays as pullside HR power at its present with potential for middle of the field HR power with a max exit velocity up to 98.6 MPH with a quality average exit velocity at 88.6 MPH and 389' max distance through the middle to pull side of the field.  He flashes good actions moving around behind the plate with good glove and solid arm strength (74 MPH C velocity and a top 2.01 pop times), whileThere is potential to polish his actions to continue raising his defensive profile. His catching potential defensive position profile, intriguing offensive ability from the LH side Wied is a name to follow out of the '25 class for college programs who are looking for offensive upside and potential to play a premium spot defensively.
