The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as we have started the '24 CIF High School baseball season Prep Baseball California is now highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '25 athletes. The players featured are pulled directly from our '25 Class Rankings. These JR year players are ones that college coaches and fans should be keeping their eyes on over the coming months.

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts and the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on a NorCal '25 C Ethan Johnson from The King's Academy High School in the Bay Area. Johnson is a physically well built backstop who has present strength to his 6'2 205 lbs frame with the mobility in his frame and actions to stick behind the plate long term. Showing very good catch/throw skills including pop times as low at 1.98 seconds while averaging the low 2.0 range with carry to his throws and the feel to receive/present pitches with agility in his block that profile Johnson to stick long term behind the plate. Add the impact profile from his LH bat which shows quality batted ball data and swing metrics. His bat speed gets up to 76.5 MPH with quick hands at 22.1 MPH with relatively low effort because of the strength in his frame which allows him to consistently hit the baseball hard with exit velocities up to 97.1 MPH and averaging 92.6 MPH. There is lift to his path with an approach to work the middle to pull side of the field. He shows the potential to add length/impact to a lineup from the LH side with HR potential from the pull side gap to the line. His overall package of physicality, solid athleticism, premium defensive position profile with a solid LH offensive profile should have college coaches tracking Johnson for their '25 recruiting classes.

College coaches and fans be sure to click on Johnson's profile to see full video and statistics.
