Ventura, Calif. - The Uncommitted Spotlight Series takes a dive back into the 2025 class as this class begins its SR. year of High School there are still several talented uncommitted players in this class who figure prominently in our Class of 2025 Rankings.  All players featured within our Uncommitted Spotlight series are ones that college coaches and fans should be keeping their eyes on over the coming months.

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts both through our in person looks at players and/or the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, and Swift Performance provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on the number 347 ranked player in the 2025 class in SoCal '25 C Elijah Garcia from Buena High School. Garcia has an athletic build at 5'11 175 lbs. that at present has some strength to it with room to continue adding as he matures. He shows good athletic ability including a 7.27 60 time with mobility/flexibility in his lower half which both combine to show up in the actions he shows behind the plate. Garcia is a smoot receiver with a soft glove, strong wrists, clean actions in pitch presentation while being a good blocker with command of his tools behind the plate. As well, Garcia presents a lightning quick transfer into release which with a 77-78 MPH C arm velocity he has consistently shown a low to mid 1.9 range pop time during both Prep Baseball California events and live looks.

With a strong profile to be an impact potential defender at a premium spot the RH hitting Garcia flashes the toolset at the plate to add offensive value to a college lineup with the work he could do at the plate. His operation at the plate is simple with a balanced set up he uses a quiet load with feel to get to the launch position on time. His swing relies on the quickness in his hands and ability to use his hips while showing leverage/lift in his bat path.  He showed well on his swing metrics including hand speed up to 22.1 MPH with quality bat speed at 69.3 MPH while adding quality torque in his turn with 17.5 G's of rotational acceleration. His batted ball data from Trackman shows the quality of his offensive profile including a max exit velocity up to 93.9 MPH while averaging 82.1 MPH. The batted ball data, swing metrics, bat path and approach project a middle of the field doubles power hitter who will show HR power to the pull side of the field giving him the ability to provide depth to a college lineup from a premium defensive spot.

Garcia is preparing this fall/winter to return to a prominent spot in the lineup at Buena High lineup where he will be a 3rd year starter on the varsity level for the Bulldogs who look to rebound from a down 2024 spring season. Garcia's leadership, defensive behind the plate and upside at the plate will play a key role in their success for the 2025 CIF High School season while giving college coaches plenty of reason to keep their eyes on him as a uncommitted '25 who can help their program.
