The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as we wind down the '23 calendar and look towards the start of the '24 CIF High School baseball season by taking a look at some of the top uncommitted class of '24 athletes. This group of players is pulled directly from our '24 Rankings. They remain as the top players left on the board going into the start of their senior seasons.

We invite you to get to know them through their data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on NorCal '24 SS Evann Smith out of St. Ignatius Prep. At 5'10 168 lbs. Smith has some present strength to his frame and shows athletic actions as a runner with a 60 time at 6.88 seconds. Showing rhythm in his footwork with a quick first step his actions defensively show potential to stick at SS with solid average arm strength at 85 MPH from the INF that would allow for a move to 2B/3B, if necessary. Uses a small hand load which allows him to use his quick hips to generate good hand speed and strength through the swing. The simplicity to his swing helps his feel for the barrel with a 92.5 MPH max exit velocity and an average exit velocity of 88.9 MPH showing the ability to consistently produce hard contact. More of a line drive based path with his power playing as doubles to the gaps with HR potential to the pull side. His ability to stick on the INF dirt and an interesting offensive profile Smith is a good talent still on the board for a college program.
