The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as the calendar has turned over and the start of the '24 CIF High School baseball season is quickly approaching we are highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '24 athletes. The players featured are pulled directly from our '24 Class Rankings and remain as the top players left on the board going into the start of their senior season.
We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our PBR California staff of scouts and the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.
Today, we put the spotlight on a SoCal '24 SS/3B Logan Aguilar out of Patrick Henry HS in San Diego. Standing in at 6'3 190 lbs. Aguilar has some present strength to his frame, but with broad shoulders and the room to add more physicality going forward. The LH hitter works from a wider base with a small forward move into the turn of his swing. Once he gets to the land position Aguilar uses his lower half well to stay balanced and start the swing. Keeping his fast hands (24.6 MPH hand speed) back and allowing them to work to deliver the barrel to contact with a line drive based swing path. Aguilar shows a knack for consistent hard contact (85 MPH avg. exit velocity) with gap power currently up to 92.7 MPH max exit velocity. As he polishes his approach while adding more strength to his frame there is more power to come in his game and could turn into a potential LH power threat with a good feel to hit. Defensively, Aguilar moves well with good hands, but his footwork/range might be stretched to play SS at next level, looks more comfortable at 3B with the arm strength (87 MPH INF arm velo) to handle the hot corner. Carried by his physicality, LH bat with current hit tool and intriguing power potential plus projection to stick at 3B should make Aguilar a follow for 4-year college programs still on the hunt for his skill set and will be a great land for a JUCO program.

Scouting Report
Event: Fresno Preseason ID
Positional Profile: SS/3B
Physical: 6-2, 165-pounds; 4.02 30-yard, 27.1” max jump height; Long body, lean lithe wiry body type, lanky proportions to add size and strength as he matures.
Offensively: LH. EV max – 90.0 mph, hand speed max – 21.9 mph, bat speed max – 64.0 mph; Even feet, back foot slightly angled to catcher, hands start deep, starts vertically stacked in slight sitting crouch, medium depth load straight back, medium knee lift out to medium stride, sinks into back side as he strides, whippy lively stroke, stays consistently on-plane at high level, as he gains strength the swing is present to develop into an offensive LHH middle-infielder.
Defensively: SS – 84 mph; Quick feet, walks into prep position, somewhat small choppy steps on way to closing on ball (could certainly have been the indoor scenario with minimal room/time to approach ball), plays low to and through ball, puts nose on it and willing to dig out a tough play, occasionally tips over which can happen given his height, plays fast, loose quick arm, tools are there and some slight refinements to smooth out the footwork can be a positive development.
