The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as we wind down the '23 calendar and look towards the start of the '24 CIF High School baseball season by taking a look at some of the top uncommitted class of '24 athletes. This group of players is pulled directly from our '24 Rankings. They remain as the top players left on the board going into the start of their senior seasons.

We invite you to get to know them through their data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture of what colleges will get when a player steps onto their campus.

Today, we look at '24 RHP Nolan Tillitt who is ranked 106th in the '24 class from perenial power program Orange Lutheran. Tillitt has a strong frame with a repeatable delivery featuing a 3/4 to low 3/4 arm slot. Since he first appeared on the PBR California radar in 2022 his stuff has continually progressed from 83-85 on the FB to sitting 88-91. Tillitt completes his arsenal with a CB/SLD/CHG offspeed trio and has performed well in each of our looks at him. He will be a good grab late in the '24 recruiting process for a college program.

Scouting Report

8/11/23

Nolan Tillitt, Orange Lutheran (CA), 2024
Positional Profile: RHP Tillitt looked really good in his performance at the State Games, topping at 91 with multiple secondaries for strikes.
Body: 6-2, 195-pounds. Big stocky build. Strong legs.
Delivery: Short stride, twitchy off his back foot. Moves downhill fast.
Arm Action: RH. Short whippy arm action, high 3/4.
FB: T91, 86-90 mph. High spin FB, gets good run to his arm side. Comfortable working in, out, up, and down. T2495, 2346 average rpm.
CB: 71-71 mph. Gets sweep and downward movement. Spots on the outside corner. T2177, 2177 average rpm.
CH: 79-79 mph. Not much dive but the speed difference works well off the FB. T1671, 1671 average rpm.

7/31/22

Event: California State Games; this outing pushed him into the 2024 ranking.
Body: 6-1, 180-pounds. Lean body, long legs, looks to have some more room for size and strength.
Delivery: Small rocker step, medium knee lift just above the waist, somewhat quick paced delivery, has body control, strides in-line, gets foot on ground and creates leverage against front side, finishes somewhat upright with slight rotation toward 1st base side.
Arm Action: Clean on backside, fairly shallow and compact takeaway, quick arm getting to a 3/4 release, some slight recoil in the finish, release height was similar on all pitches (4.8-5.0)
FB: T88.4, 85-87.9 mph velo range. Flashes above average arm side movement (11.1 avg HM) with glimpses of high spin ability (2379 avg, 2523 max). Has strike throwing ability and can get to both sides of the plate, willing to attack and trusts his stuff, extension (5.7 avg) could increase just a bit for more life deeper through the zone.
CB: 68-70 mph. Shorter tight action, spins it well with feel for the zone (67%), projects as an above average curveball that can be used for outs and stealing strikes.
SL: 73-76 mph. Displayed feel (67% zone%) with above average horizontal movement, max 2496 spin, the bump in velocity with smaller action but similar spin to the CB makes it so he can use both effectively.
CH: 76-78 mph. Arm side fade with deceptive action, significant decrease in spin off the FB look, mirrors the extension of the FB, slightly lower release height (4.8) off the FB, enough feel to suggest this will develop into a usable pitch.

6/11/22

Body: 6-1, 170-pounds. Above average frame. Maturing build. Present lower half strength.
Delivery: Side steps into a mid chest knee tuck. Slight core coil away from home. Shoulders stay above the hips. Still head. Stays over rubber well. Present lead-leg block. Lands in-line with home. Spins off slightly to 1B side at finish.
Arm Action: Medium circle in the back to a 3/4 slot. Present scap load and layback. Easy effort. Above average arm speed. Consistent arm speed on all pitch types.
FB: T86, 84-85 mph. Straighter action. Good feel in zone (86% zone percentage). Decent extension allows for extra perceived velo.
SL: 66-72 mph. Shorter action. 29% zone clip. Drops slot slightly but maintains armspeed.
