Uncommitted Spotlight: '24 OF Gregory Rangel

Steven Hardesty

The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as we wind down the '23 calendar and look towards the start of the '24 CIF High School baseball season by taking a look at some of the top uncommitted class of '24 athletes. This group of players is pulled directly from our '24 Rankings. They remain as the top players left on the board going into the start of their senior seasons.

We invite you to get to know them through their data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on '24 OF/1B Gregory Rangel out of Chamindae Prep High School in Los Angeles. Rangel is a LH hitter working out of a quiet setup and load with quick hands at 25 MPH with whip through the zone to generate 92.6 MPH (max) exit velos and an (avg) exit velo of 84.8 MP.  He shows a consistent for the barrel with an 86% sweet spot metric. The approach is geared to hit first, but there is enough impact at contact to flash pull side power. Rangel's bat is his carrying tool as a prospect, but he flashes potential as a corner OF or 1B at the next level defensively.
