The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as the calendar has turned over and the start of the '24 CIF High School baseball season is coming quickly we are taking a look at some of the top uncommitted class of '24 athletes. The players featured are pulled directly from our '24 Class Rankings and remain the top players left on the board going into the start of their senior season.
We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our PBR California staff of scouts and the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.
Today, we put the spotlight on NorCal '24 OF/1B Rocco Giometti from St. Ignatius Prep. With a strong frame at 6'3 190 lbs. Giometti is an interesting corner OF/1B profile for a college program. Shows good athleticism with a 6.94 60, 1.76 10 and a max run speed of 19 MPH. The arm is fringe average at 82 MPH from the OF making him a better fit in LF or at 1B, but athletically he can handle RF if adds arm strength. Working from a wide base in the stance with no stride relying on a coil of the hips and hands Giometti generates good hand speed at 22.1 MPH and 73.9 MPH bat speed. The physical strength in the frame and simplicity of the swing combine for a 96 MPH max exit velocity and an average exit velocity of 87.9 MPH. Rocco's profile is carried by his offensive profile and ability to impact a college lineup, but if he can make the gains to slide into RF the overall profile increases. As a LH bat with impact potential Giometti should be one college coaches are taking a look at.
