The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as the calendar has turned over and the start of the '24 CIF High School baseball season is quickly approaching we are highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '24 athletes. The players featured are pulled directly from our '24 Class Rankings and remain as the top players left on the board going into the start of their senior season.
We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our PBR California staff of scouts and the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.
Today, we put the spotlight on a NorCal '24 INF Edward Peters out of Aptos High School. With an athletic frame at 5'10 165 lbs. with room to add strength in both his upper and lower halves in college. A good athlete who shows the ability to stick up the middle defensively with natural rhythm to his feet, instincts for timing, clean angles, range laterally and downhill with fluid hands. The arm strength plays on the left side of the INF at either SS or 3B and would be above average to plus at 2B. As well, he shows comfort throwing from different arm angles and on different footwork patterns. He profiles as an average defender at SS, but if he makes the move to 3B or 2B has a chance to above average to plus with his actions. Starts his swing from a narrower set up with low hands using a controlled forward move with the lower 1/2 and pushing his hands back to get to the launch position. Once he pulls the trigger Peters shows good hand speed with strength through the zone and with tilt to his body in the finish position there is natural leverage to the gaps with lift to the pull side of the field. His power presently plays mostly as doubles to the middle of the field with HR potential on the pull side. There is a good feel for his barrel with consistent hard contact. Peters is a well rounded INF prospect who has middle of the diamond potential and will add depth to a college lineup. 4-year colleges and JUCO programs should be keeping a close eye on him as they look to complete their '24 recruiting classes.
